Why do people pretend Linklater's a good writer?

Based on the release dates for the first three Before movies (1995, 2004, 2013) we should be due for a fourth one in 2022.

Eh I don't know they've already released a Criterion box set, and I don't see it filming.

Welcome to the human race...
True, but then again these aren't overly complicated productions and Linklater works at a fairly frequent and consistent rate so I'm not ruling out that he can put together a fourth one by the end of 2022.

Brimming with rififi!
He’s an amazing writer. Even though his films are dialogue rich, the writing is still economical. It all feels necessary and in service to the characters, themes and the story as a whole. I think of his adaptation of Phillip K. Dick’s A Scanner Darkly and how, in the book, there’s this sort of whiplash dialogue ricocheting among these eccentric characters, and the way Linklater translates that for the screen is nothing short of brilliant.
