Perhaps this could start another thread .. best fantasy film. I would put Star Wars in the same class as Lord of the Rings.

Explosions in space?

I watched it again last year and found out that just because I loved it as a kid doesn't mean that I love it now. I appreciate the effort of the F/X department and everything they put into it...nearly everything, but I don't like the embellishments or the acting.

Oh well. At least now I have the new one to enjoy...and, of course, the novel.

No Blade Runner on the list at all Lance? You hurt me man, you hurt me....

Yes, yes...I still think it's the best thing to ever hit celluloid.

Blade Runner's undeniably a great flick, but it's not one I'd list among my favorites. In fact, while the film in itself is a tremendous commentary on the future and what our society is becoming - the acting and a great deal of the dialogue are just so bad to a point that they really hurt the movie for me.

Meanwhile, I love all the films you do have on your list. Minority Report is a gem, and I love it more and more each time I watch it.

Yeah, so many people dismissed Minority Report as summer action fluff. But it's one of Spielberg's best IMHO.

Chicks dig Lord of the Rings, Randal
I will have to go with Blade Runner as well.

I loved reading all the lists. It brought back memories of all the movies I loved and watched on TV as a kid. So many and all great. I guess the one that was my first love was seeing James Arness as The Thing. I felt sorry for the poor veggie.
But the one movie that impressed me with the far reaching yet believeable message was and is Arthur C Clark's and Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a Space Odyssey.
