Once again, the great people at the Museum of the Moving Image have a fantastic event planned! As part of the release of a new Bard College publication on the films of Hou Hsiao-Hsien, a traveling, complete retrospective of his films is making its way around the world. The series will stop in New York from October 12th to November 12th, with specific screening times available soon: http://www.movingimage.us/films/2014...u-hsiao-hsien/

There's plenty of locations that this retrospective will be visiting, so don't be discouraged if you can't chill with me in New York for a month, the list of venues is available here (too bad it seems it will be in Singapore a few months after I leave there): http://www.bard.edu/cmia/publications/ .

For those of you who aren't familiar with one of the two greatest living filmmakers, this is the perfect opportunity to get yourself heavily and lovingly acquainted with him. I could not be more excited and will possibly be spending every weekend in New York that month now that I have a place to stay there. They're even screening Edward Yang's Taipei Story, which stars Hou, and is only available in a poor quality VHS rip:
anywhere online, but the retrospective will have it in glorious 35mm!

Chinephiles rejoice!
