James Bond: Quantum of Solace (a.k.a. Bond 21)

Tools

As some of you probably already know, the title "Quantum of Solace" comes from the short story of the same name in For Your Eyes Only, a book by Ian Fleming made up of five Bond-related tales.

The interesting thing is that this particular story contains no action; it centers around a conversation Bond has at a dinner party. So there are a few possibilities:
  • The poster is a fan creation, and the fan was smart enough to use a title from the Bond universe for it.
  • The poster and/or title is real, but the movie is only borrowing it for a very different story.
  • The poster and/or title is real, and the movie will expand the short story considerably, only loosely basing itself on the dinner party.
It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. It does look a little rough for an official poster, though. Early posters usually don't feature things like buildings or even images of the characters; they're usually just logos, titles, and release dates, with a few stylized elements. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that neither the poster or title is real, but I feel more confident in the former than the latter.

Bond 22, i think Jrs.
I'm sorry Pyro, it is indeed Bond 21. The only unofficial film is Never Say Never Again, leaving only 20 official Bond pictures (Including the recent Casino Royale).

The next,#21, will be James Bond 007: Quantum of Silence sstarring again with Daniel Craig.

It's "Quantum of Solace," actually. As for 21 vs. 22, it really depends on how you count. United Artists says 21, because they don't count the one you mentioned, which was apprently released by Warner Bros. But to fans, it's certainly the 22nd film about James Bond.

I just know they're coming to kill me.
Yoda's right... that's too much lettering for a teaser.

I don't think it's legit.

1) Dr. No (1962)
2) From Russia with Love (1963)
3) Goldfinger (1964)
4) Thunderball (1965)
5) You Only Live Twice (1967)
6) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
7) Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
8) Live and Let Die (1973)
9) The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
10) The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
11) Moonraker (1979)
12) For Your Eyes Only (1981)
13) Octopussy (1983)
14) A View to a Kill (1985)
15) The Living Daylights (1987)
16) Licence to Kill (1989)
17) GoldenEye (1995)
18) Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
19) The World Is Not Enough (1999)
20) Die Another Day (2002)
21) Casino Royale (2006)
22) ___________

So which one is unofficial? I always remember Die Another Day as 20 since they made an event of it where it was 40 year anniversary and the referenced almost all the other films.

Regarding the poster, i don't buy it. It's more 'this is what you get' opposed to the ambigious teaser most early posters are like.

I definitely love the sound of the title.

And yeah, that poster does look a bit suspect there. I mean look at the line going down the back of his ear. Like it's part of another person's neck. Seems unnatural.

But on Pyro's list, he listed 21 Bond films and Never say Never again is not on the list. So he's right.

Fleming or not...Quantum of Solace is a HIDEOUS name. I dont think the Broccoli's would dump a crap name like that on us....hopefully. Bet you they change it. Never Say Never Again was an unofficial, almost verbatim knockoff of Thunderball.
