Tools

Hello Everyone,

Well I am running out of comedy movies to watch.

Can anyone recommend any good ones that happen to be on netflix?

How are we supposed to know what you have already seen?

Uh, yeah. We don't know what you've seen, or what your taste in comedies is. I find it hard to believe that after a century of film you've seen all the comedies there are to see.

There are many, many existing threads on the topic of comedies, a sampling being THIS ONE, THIS ONE, THIS ONE, THIS ONE, THIS ONE, THIS ONE and on and on and on.

Oh, well, gee, I didn't realize you had already seen Weiners and Sex Drive. And your reviews of Animal House and Step Brothers are a succinct "sucked". So who cares if you've seen Young Frankenstein or Airplane! or Duck Soup or His Girl Friday, you seem to have it all figured out.

To answer your original question, no, I don't know of any other comedies like Weiners. Sadly. Oh, wait: what about Good Burger (1997) or Waiting... (2005)? Masterpieces both. There, now you have recommendations. Enjoy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will watch Airplane. Any other suggestions?

I don't have any recommendations for someone who thought Animal House sucked, but was okay with Hot Tub Time Machine, which I have not seen but doubt it was better than Animal House.

If you like Shaun of the Dead and haven't seen it, Hot Fuzz. I laughed more during Hot Fuzz. Also Paul, different director but it has the same guys in from Shaun and Fuzz. Not so funny but worth the look.

The wonderful Zoolander is a must.

I've seen Hott Fuzz. People, I actually do see all these movies. I just forgot about some of them until you mention it. I am a full time college student so i have time to watch a lot of movies via netflix when i am not hanging out with friends or studying.

This will most likely be a thread for the comedy movies I have seen and you guy's will be able to suggest movies to me as time goes on.

B.A.P.S

I really shouldn't joke. I haven't seen a lot of the classic comedy films either. Mel Brooks, from what I've seen, is somebody I just don't find that funny.

I seem to be terrible at picking comedies, because many of the ones I've ever seen just didn't do much for me. There are some really good ones that everybody knows about that I like too, of course, but usually when I try to pick something that isn't super well-known already, I'm almost always underwhelmed.

Some of my favorite funny movies I've seen include:

the South Park movie, the Little Shop of Horrors musical (with Rick Moranis), UHF, Young Frankenstein (classic), Dumb & Dumber, Zoolander, Half Baked, American Pie, Blazing Saddles (a must-see), The Producers (original version was hilarious, the new one sucked), I love the first Eddie Murphy remake of Nutty Professor and much of his other stuff like Trading Places and Coming to America, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski, Groundhog Day, The Odd Couple is pretty funny (but more amusing and charming than gutbusting funny if you get my drift), Office Space, Austin Powers (part 2 was my favorite, 3 was kinda lame), A Fish Called Wanda was pretty good, Beetlejuice, Forget Paris, There's Something about Mary (awesome comedy), Mrs. Doubtfire, The Monty Python movies, Napoleon Dynamite (Yes I liked it, sue me) Back to School (I like Rodney Dangerfield movies but some of them are just terrible), Sleeper, Ghostbusters 1 AND 2 (yes I liked the sequel), The Jerk (I like most of Steve Martin's stuff too), The National Lampoon's Vacation movies (The first one and Christmas Vacation were best), Van Wilder, The Rush Hour trilogy (and I just find much of Jackie Chan's stuff funny besides that), Super Troopers, Abbot and Costello are pretty good, Marx brothers movies, Ace Ventura 1 and 2 (I personally like Jim Carrey and almost everything he does), the Scary Movies (stupid I know), Team America: World Police, Ferris Bueller (and I like pretty much everything else John Hughes was involved with too), those Road To movies with Bob Hope were pretty good (from what I remember), Walk Hard was hilarious, The Naked Gun movies, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, most anything with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, Harold and Kumar, I Love You Man, Let's Go To Prison, John Candy movies (some were terrible, yeah, but I like the guy), The Brothers Solomon, The Blues Brothers (don't remember the second one), Borat, Bruno, Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder were both pretty good ones too

I'm not a big fan of Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler like some people but I do like some of their stuff a lot, like Elf and Spanglish....

That's my list. I made it just for you. Now rep me, you whore, you filthy filthy whore.
