There is a part 2 as well. I think it would fit into your type of films.
That one is not already on my watchlist. Added, thanks.

I added that earlier, as I understand it's the sequel to Teruo Ishii's Shogun's Joy of Torture (which I haven't seen yet, but I liked the other Ishiis I've seen).

Rock, just how large is your Watchlist at this point?
It's over 4000 titles at this point lol

I just keep adding stuff anytime something interesting pops up on my feed.

I also took it private after a brief bout of embarrassment about the kind of garbage that was on there.

I watched Woods are Wet Women's Hell years ago. A fun watch and loosely based off deSade , which I admit, I am a fan of his writings.

Okay, that one I added because somebody mentioned it on here. Might have been you, actually.

I know Minio was chirping me to watch pinkus / roman pornos a while back. I'll get around to them eventually, I swear.

I'm sure you have seen Bloody Pit of Horror, with Micky Hargitay.

I bought a bootleg copy years ago.

Yup, reviewed it earlier this year somewhere in this thread. It's on Tubi in a nice transfer and got a recent Blu-ray release from Severin, if you're interested in revisiting it and/or upgrading your copy.

My first copy of Salo was a bootleg, then I bought the Criterion when released.

I'm off to bed , have a good night and nice chatting.

Cheers.

I haven't actually seen Salo, haha. I was hoping it would be on the Criterion Channel. I suppose it'll show up on there eventually.

Lol. For some reason I find that funny.
I've been avoiding it, but I did bite the bullet recently and ordered the BFI Blu-ray. Haven't watched it yet. I've already gathered there's probably a few scenes that I'll need to cover my eyes for (only other time I recall doing that for a movie was the end of Pink Flamingos. To let you know what my brown kryptonite is when it comes to limits in movies. Cannibal Holocaust was my turtle kryptonite).

That's actually the same reason I've put off watching Salo. And Pink Flamingos, for that matter. I suspect Crumbsroom will be very upset with me over the latter.

I actually Cannibal Holocaust kind of sucks (for being up its own ass, aside from just the animal killings). The only one I've seen from the cannibal wave that I think is actually good is Jungle Holocaust, but even that one I was switching tabs pretty actively when I watched it on my computer. I suppose Emmanuelle and the Last Cannibals is tolerable as well, mostly for one scene where the movie keeps cutting to chimpanzee-related comic relief during a nude scene.

Are you a BPoH fan?

Fine, I'll watch both eventually while having a big bowl of chocolate ice cream.

I also guarantee your issue with Pink Flamingos isn't going to be the dog shit. It's going to be how shrill it is.

It's going to reverberate all through your skull.

Salo is definitely an easier watch than Cannibal Holocaust. Of course, part of this is because it doesn't contain any unstimulated violence, but I mainly find the film more depressing than disturbing. Instead of having the characters desperately try to resist the violence, they passively accept it as it goes on and rarely ever fight back. Given this, the film feels emotionally muted to the point I could understand someone calling it boring. It's still not an easy watch (it wasn't as messed up as I thought it would be going into it though), but it's definitely worth watching if one's up for it.

With that being said though, I wasn't the biggest fan of it as the film made it clear what it was criticizing early on and then proceeded to restate this one-dimensional theme over and over again for the remainder of the runtime. I'm down for a rewatch at some point to give it another shot though.

I'm hoping the brain freeze will counter the vibrations.

I tried to find an amusing chocolate ice cream gif, but everything that came up was vaguely unseemly.
