Yes I did, what I mean is I'm glad there aren't that many. 6 is an okay number but the list shouldn't have a lot is what I meant.
And I will agree with this. We had our Comics List that Rodent ran. It was awesome. And while many comics fall into sci-fi, the fact that this list focuses on other forms is a good thing.

Oh yeah? Well don't count your unhatched chickens before the fat lady sings because that number is about to rise as Superman and Spider-Man haven't even appeared yet (not to mention the masterpiece that is Mystery Men)!

I know. Still funny, but I had to build off it.

I have seen both, but only voted for Jurassic Park. It was my number 11. Gilliam is a great director, but for sci-fi I would still go with Brazil over 12 Monkeys.

1. Top 5 easy good chance at #1
2. Stalker (1979)
3. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
4. The Avengers (2012)
5. Should be top 15
6. The other possible number 1.
7. The Road Warrior (1981)
8. Has to be somewhere in the top 15
9. Predator (1987)
10. Not gonna make it
11. Jurassic Park (1993)
12. Will make it easy
13. I am probably the only one who voted for this movie
14. Should be top 15
15. Return of the Jedi (1983)
16. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
17. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
18. Gravity (2013)
19. This will show
20. Escape from New York (1981)
21. Independence Day (1996)
22. Planet of the Apes (1968)
23. Top 10
24. I would think top 20 to top 15
25. Top 10

My List: 13
Seen: 68/88

"Who cares what psychiatrists write on walls?!?" Brazil is Terry Gilliam's masterpiece, but in genre terms 12 Monkeys is his best Sci-Fi film. For my money, anyway. This is the first movie I ever saw in the theater where afterwards I exited and then immediately bought another ticket to see it again. I was already familiar with and liked Chris Marker's experimental classic La Jetée, and I loved how screenwriter Hampton Fancher's screenplay expanded on the theme and premise. When Gilliam added his own humor and visual strengths to the pot, what came out was perfect. I had it at number seven on my list. "Well, if you ask me, I think that monkey is gonna eat that goddamn sandwich himself."

Jurassic Park is decent for a blockbuster, but it never really did much of anything for me, even before the never-ending sequels diluted the potency of the original. It wouldn't have made my personal top hundred, to be honest. But, hey, the kids loved it.

Seven of my remaining ten will make up the top dozen.

MY LIST
2. Solaris (#23)
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (#27)
6. Children of Men (#20)
7. 12 Monkeys (#14)
8. Moon (#29)
9. Her (#25)
11. Brazil (#32)
13. Invasion of the Body Snatchers [1956] (#46)
15. Stalker (#22)
16. Invasion of the Body Snatchers [1978] (#58)
18. The Hidden (#82)
20. Ghostbusters (#57)
22. The Fly (#15)
23. Guardians of the Galaxy (#77)
25. Safety Not Guaranteed (DNP)

Do I even need to say anything? I knew people liked JP, but was not expecting it to make the top 20. The film has its problems & I acknowledge them but I absolutely love it. It's amazing how a film from 1993, a film which came out before I was even born, could still contend with films being released today in the special effects department. Including the 3rd sequel which relied almost completely on CGI save one scene.

My List: 17/25

Seen: 50/88

1. Jurassic Park (13)
2. Independence Day (40)
3. Looper (100)
4. Starship Troopers (54)
5. Will Make the List
6. The Prestige (72)
7. Not making it
8. Signs (76)
9. Not making it
10. Most likely making the list.
11. Making the List
12. Most likely not making the list
13. Avatar (80)
14. 28 Days Later (85)
15. Making the list, will probably be #1 or at least top 5
16. Predator (26)
17. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (27)
18. The Martian (60)
19. E.T. (21)
20. District 9 (65)
21. Edge of Tomorrow (66)
22. Mad Max: Fury Road (37)
23. Inception (24)
24. Source Code (92)
25. Cloverfield (Unranked)

Twelve Monkeys was my #20.

This is a great example of how to properly remake an art film into a blockbuster. It's a fantastic piece of highly entertaining and equally intelligent cinema!
