Not sure if anyone else here lives near N.Y. but thought I'd give a heads-up: the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is playing a whole bunch of Imamura Shohei's films this month. There are more than a few of these I'd like to see. Not sure if I'll make it to all the ones I'd like to (some are only showing on weekdays, and I live outside the city), but for those who haven't seen any of this guy's films, this is a great chance to see such classics as Vengeance is Mine, The Ballad of Narayama, and Black Rain on the big screen. For those who have seen some of those, well, they'll be playing a ton of stuff that was never released on US vhs or dvd.
