One of the two or three greatest years in my cinema life! I was also just the right age for the early 80's type of movies that ruled the box office. My favorites were in no particular order

The Thing (A top five horror film of all time for me)
Conan the Barbarian
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
E.T.
48 Hrs
Star Trek:The Wrath of Khan
An Officer And a Gentleman
Blade Runner
Poltergeist
Rocky III (Maybe not the film Rocky is but my favorite one)
The Road Warrior (Sometimes listed as 81 but released in most of the U.S. in 82 when I saw it)

How old are you?

I was 13 in 1982 which for the action pumped up early 80's was the perfect age I think. I can never decide if 81 or 82 was the best year. I go back and forth.

The Thing and Blade Runner.

I'll do a top 4 -

Blade Runner - one of my all time favorite sci-fi-noir movies; I love the look and the music.

The Thing - A great successor to The Thing From Another World, which would be in my 1951 list.

ET - Who could have a hard enough heart to NOT like ET, which would be like not liking The Wizard of Oz. Decades later, it's still a kid-movie favorite, but I've always loved it.

Diner - It's a local favorite, set in a fictionalized diner in a fictionalized version of the Fell's Point neighborhood. It's all fiction, but it's a great Baltimore movie.
