This is not that far off, though I've gotten decent at having most of the likely nominees entered into the system preemptively, but there's always a few surprises I have to type in quickly.

Ah it's the day where we see which companies have paid the most for their films to be up for big awards regardless of the quality of the film. A truly joyous occasion.

I don't think too many people think of the Oscars as the final word on quality, and probably haven't for awhile.

They're a lot easier to enjoy if they're just seen as an occasion to watch films, talk about them, think about them, and then mess around for a few hours in chat the night of the ceremony.

I'm happy about the nominations for CODA, Dune, and West Side Story. I'm pleasantly surprised that Kristen Stewart got nominated for best actress. I'm NOT happy that they snubbed Denis Villeneuve for best director for Dune and that Lady Gaga was snubbed for best actress for House of Gucci. I'm relieved that Tick Tick Boom and Being the Ricardos did not get nominated for best picture.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Drive My Car should win everything. A total masterpiece.

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

Don't Look Up being nominated for Best Picture is a testament to slim pickings due to COVID. Such an atrocious film.
No it's not. It's due to their distribution company having more money for their oscar campaign than other films.

The trick is not minding
Really glad to see CODA nominated. Don’t Look Up is a bit surprising.

I’ve seen 4 of the 10, (CODA, Dune, Don’t Look Up and The Power of the Dog).

Almost all of these played at theaters near me. The exceptions being Power of the Dog and Drive My Car. I’m hoping to see Drive My Car get a wider release now. Maybe I’ll go out this weekend and watch Licorice Pizza and King Richard since they’re playing nearby.
