Best Movie Music/Theme Song

Kenny, don't paint your sister.
What's the best movie theme song or musical score?

Mine favorites include:
The Pink Panther by Henry Mancini
The Indiana Jones theme by John Williams
Charade also by Henry Mancini
My Heart Will Go On sung by Celine Dion (unsure of writer)
Rocky Theme from Bill Conti

Im partial to Grease 2

The soundtrack as a whole in Lord of the Rings is my favorite ever

Others that deserve to be mentioned:
-The Last Samurai
-Gladiator
-Dark Knight
-The Lion King
-Aladdin

Needless to say Hanz Zimmer is considered one of the, if not the, best composer...in my opinion, not only for movies, but videogames as well

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum's (1966) opening theme song, "A Comedy Tonight" is my favorite song in any movie.

The opening theme song:

The film's finale song, which is a continuation of the opener:

You guys ready to let the dogs out?
Howard Shore's work on The Lord of the Rings was very good.

I'd throw in Braveheart, Star Wars and Hook into the mix as well but end of the day Requiem for a Dream wins.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
My fave musical scores are probably Days of Heaven, The Devil and Daniel Webster, Jaws, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, and Conan the Barbarian. For themes, I think it's tough to beat Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, Taxi Driver, Chinatown, The Fall of the Roman Empire, and The High and the Mighty. The problem is that there are hundreds more deserving to be mentioned.

The main themes from Blade Runner and Taxi Driver are great. Of course "Moon River" has become a standard that has transcended Breakfast at Tiffany's which it is from. "Moon River" is argueably more popular than the composer and the film it's from.

I like the themes from these two Hitchcock flicks, and the opening title sequences just add to it.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Good choices , and I would have used those, along with Psycho, The Trouble With Harry and Marnie, but I already included Bernard Herrmann with The Devil and Daniel Webster and Taxi Driver.

Now here is something we often take for granted; the music/soundtrack...how important it is to the overall success of a movie

A good theme song can keep a movie on the minds of the viewers better than just about anything...

Just think Star Wars... or Jaws.

My personal favs:

West Side Story - Max Steiner
Back to the Future - Alan Silvestri
Gladiator - Hans Zimmer
The Patriot - John Williams
The Da Vinci Code - Hans Zimmer
The Lion King - Elton John & Hans Zimmer

As you can see...I also love Hans Zimmer

Unforgettable themes/soundtrack music:

Star Wars
Gone With the Wind
Jaws
The Godfather
Psycho
My Heart Will Go On - Titanic
Shaft
Rocky
Mrs. Robinson - The Graduate

Cant believe no one has mentioned this one, my favorite is the Godfather theme.

Until a few weeks ago, I had no idea who that bloke was. Now, thanks to Neighbours, I do.

All ghost related, strangely enough.

BTW, agree on BTTF
