Top 5 favorite Woody Allen films

Tools

Mine are:
Annie Hall
Hannah and her sisters
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Manhattan
Love & Death/ Sleeper

Ok maybe top 6, what are yours?

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
As a director:

Hannah and Her Sisters
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Bullets Over Broadway
Manhattan
Manhattan Murder Mystery

I'd have to add Play It Again, Sam if we include films he wrote and starred in, although Herbert Ross directed it.

There are many others which are on the cusp and could be included without my feeling guilty.

This is in no particular order:

Love and Death
Midnight in Paris
Bullets over Broadway
Annie Hall
Purple Rose of Cairo

This is very difficult to choose because each of his films are so unique and powerful in different ways. Crimes and Misdemeanors should probably be on that list as well.

The early funny ones. The worst is when he is foolish enough to think he is Ingmar Bergman. Not only is Interiors a very bad movie, it is one of the worst movies ever made by someone who wasn't named Ed Wood.

I've got some pretty big gaps here, and probably some unusual opinions, but I tend to like his goofier efforts. In order, my favorites are:
  1. Sleeper
  2. Annie Hall
  3. Everyone Says I Love You
  4. Manhattan Murder Mystery
  5. Small-Time Crooks
Didn't really dig much on Manhattan, though I realize I'm probably in the minority there. There's also a pretty big gap for me between those top three and all the others.

I liked Stardust Memories, thou in that he was trying to be more Fellini than Bergman. I liked it thou.

It's not that bad. Why do you think that about Interiors? forgetting the Ingmar Bergman aspect. I take it you don't like September either?

Annie Hall
Sweet and Low Down
Manhattan Murder Mystery
Crimes & Misdemeanors
Purple Rose of Cairo

There are a bunch I'd need to see again before knowing how to rank them all, and a few that might bump some off of this top five...

Good question:

Sleeper
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Hannah and Her Sisters
Everybody Says I Love You
Annie Hall

I mean, A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy is also a Bergman movie, Smiles of a Summer Night, to be exact. Do you hate that too?

And let's see...

Manhattan
Bullets over Broadway
Annie Hall
Hannah and Her Sisters
Zelig

This list is just what I'm feeling right now. I love so many of them, it's so hard to choose just five!
