Best Comedy Group or Team

Tools

I just thought of this one, that I should have posted a long time ago: Don Knotts and Andy Griffith on the Andy Griffith Show. They made a very good comedy team.

To revisit an old topic.

I think the clear thing here, funniest group/team is definatly without any hope of a doubt is Monty Python.

A perfectly organic team that created some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen in my life. Intelligent, witty, silly, but never obnoxious or stupid, never deliberatly sarcastic (they never made sarcasm the point of their jokes).

So my vote doesn't go to a trio or duo, it goes to the Monty Python team.

But like you people didn't know I was going to say them...

"NI!"

Laurel and Hardy are the greatest.

Marx Brothers take second.

And Hope and Crosby take third.

Why are you people just choosing to pick duos (disregarding mentions of Marx)?!

What about Python?!
What about the Carry On group?!

A travesty, I tell you!!

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Monty Python group.

Mike Myers and Mike Myers and Mike Myers. (Spy Who Shagged Me)

Marx Brothers. Hands down. Duck Soup had me in tears the first time I saw it...even though it's like 70 years old. Their comedy is practically timeless.

Now With Moveable Parts
The team of SNL cast members that included: Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Rob Schnider, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, David Spade, and Norm McDonald...those were the years.

The Daily Show team rocks! That is funny television right there. Steve Cobert and his interveiws with regular people bust me up!

I like the British cast of, Who's Line is it Anyways?

mst3k is a great example of witty comedy; I'm sad there aren't any new episodes.

Holy Moly, cant believe that no one has mentioned the original Odd Couple WALTER MATTHAU and JACK LEMMON.

Have to mention DEAN MARTIN and JERRY LEWIS too as top of the pack.

SPENCER TRACY and KATHERINE HEPBURN were hilarious together.

The combination of ALEC GUINESS and PETER SELLERS was always a good one. The GOONS SHOW was damn good value. (Though never onscreen unfortunately)

I can pretend that things last.
I would choose Marx Brothers all the way.

Our Gang, a.k.a. The Little Rascals.

Froggy alone may be the most underappreciated comic genius of the past century. And though it's probably pedophilia-like to admit today, that Darla is a hottie (at least I thought so when I was six-years-old). Then you throw in Spanky, Porky, Butch, Dickie, Chubby, Woim, Miss Crabtree and Jiggs the Monkey, the whole thing could just as easily been kiddie porn.

Anywho, even without the subtext of child molestation (but maybe that's just me?), they're still a funny bunch o' tykes.

Heckle & Jeckle were awesome in their day too....though I think it's pretty clear Jeckle carried Heckle - the guy was a hack.

oh, this thread is awesome. i'm glad you guys mentioned farley and spade. those two were awesome together, and spade hasn't been the same since farley's passing.

how about terrence and philip ? say what you want about fart humor, the episode that had their epic reunion and "behind the music" parody was one of the best send-ups of hollywood and the comedy industry next to......

jay and silent bob strike back. and i'm shaking my head in disappointment that no one picked these two. one day smith films will be looked upon like the monuments to genius filmmaking that they truly are. snoogans.

of course good ole sades would mention mst3k . yay! that show will never get old.

how about aykroyd and martin ? they're two wild and crazy guys. and dana carvey and mike myers ? how about (insert cast member from SNL) and (insert another cast member from SNL)? that show features the funniest people on the planet, really. i can't get enough of it. god, i'm obsessed with SNL.

and no one's mentioned one of my all-time favorites..... this is a biggie, you should never have overlooked it.....

Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter . they rocked. there are no words to describe how funny that show was. it's still the best thing on late night (by miles) but it's not quite as funny.

I think its probably Jay and Silent Bob, their my favorite, I love all their movie, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, basically I love all kevin Smith stuff, Oh and another team I like in Dante and Randal from Clerks

A novel adaptation.
It's got to be The Kids in the Hall.

Not quite as classic as Python, or the Stooges, or the Marx brothers, but I really do believe that they are and were the best comedy troupe of the last 25 years.

Really though, I like Python and the Kids about the same, but since no one had suggested yet...
