I am burdened with glorious purpose
They didn't make movies when I was born, they were still chiseling pictographs on the walls of caves.
LOL!!

But, I've got you bit by a little.

1956 -- I think we had electricity then. And cars.

It wasn't a bad year, there's a few films I want to list. But hey, one GREAT film was released that year:

The Searchers by John Ford

And the others

Giant (released on my actual birthday)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The King and I
The Court Jester (this is still a favorite -- even here on this board!)
Lust for Life
The Man Who Knew Too Much
Somebody Up There Likes Me
High Society

Class of '81!!!

Raiders of the Lost Ark
An American Werewolf in London
Alice
Das Boot
Chariots of Fire
Cannon Ball Run
The Evil Dead
Escape from New York
Rocky
Heavy Metal
Time Bandits
Scanners

1981 was awesome!

My birth year is 1960.

So let's see what was good in the theater that year?

Hmm.

Psycho
Magnificent Seven, The
Peeping Tom
Elmer Gantry
Swiss Family Robinson
Pollyanna
Saiyu-ki
House of Usher
Time Machine, The
Apartment, The
Virgin Spring, The
Village of the Damned
Inherit the Wind
Brides of Dracula, The
Sundowners, The

That's a pretty good list.

The Magnificent Seven would probably be my fav on that list but it's a hard choice!

Second would be The Time Machine. I wish I could find it to show to my kids.

I've done the play Inherent the Wind but I've never much cared for the story.

Psycho is a classic, not really MY thing but enjoyable.

The rest I've either not seen or they didn't make a lasting impression.
