Film recommendations - online?

Tools

Hey guys! New to the boards here

A little about me - I program films for festivals (short films, specifically) and code film sites.

For the first time in a couple of years I find myself at home for a long period of time (recovering from surgery - all good though!!!)

I have gone through the entire MUBI library as well as Doc Club. Currently browsing through Fandor.

Does anyone recommend any site online to discover new gems?

Thanks guys! Trying my hardest not to binge-watch TV shows, but I feel it happening soon

big hug to all! xx

apart from netflix and some other pay for sites,i actually watch a lot of movies on youtube, though thats not for everyone.

The Hole (2001) is on there,if you havent seen it you should! its not porn

Oh wow - YouTube is getting into the game again! I love The Hole, have seen it so many times, own the VHS copy haha

I'm exploring YouTube options as well. They only seem to sell, correct? No subscription?

WELCOME btw im so rude
They sell alot of movies yeah, but full movies are constantly being upload even though its not allowed
(though they get removed after awhile-but then reuploaded again etc etc)

i think a few on here use HULU aswell, but i think thats a paying site.

greta.schaeffler, Welcome! to MoFo the friendliest board around

To learn about new release, check out IndieWire
MoFo has lots of movie information:

The movie Review Page has searchable field boxes or just browse. And check out: Rate the Last Movie You Saw with over 1400 pages.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for starting this thread Greta! Those are all valid suggestions.

I would tell you to go on MUBI, but recently I have been a little bit disappointed...

Try and check out Filmatique, I started following them on Instagram a few months ago because they had a really cool page and I saw that they recently launched a streaming platform. If you like Festival / Art-house titles it's a great site to discover new directors!

I hope this was helpful.

Yes, I just started using FILMATIQUE too! Small but incredible selection, did you see MODRIS?

You should also check out Film Struck, a lot of options now days..

Thanks everyone for the replies!!

Yes, Mubi has been disappointing me.

I used to love Hulu, but it seems that Film Struck has just snagged the Criterion collection from them?

I've also been pointed towards archive dot org which has some EXCELLENT old silent films, which I'm a fan of

Filmatique is actually playing one of my favorite films, Red Amnesia. Haven't seen their other films but will do so this week.

i can't posting link yet, but theyshootpictures.com (TSPDT) is pretty awesome for more elitey guide or plan to watch recommendation
