Good Time 2017 Directed by Josh Safdie, Benny Safdie

This was an incredibly suspenseful heist thrill ride. With a really intense and great performance by Pattinson.
The Safdie brothers make me wanna make a movie. Good Time is good stuff.

Dolemite Is My Name 2019 Directed by Craig Brewer

You no-business, rat-soup-eating, insecure m*therf**ker.

Project Almanac - A good found footage film about a group of teens that invent a time machine.

Ad Astra

some of the best scenes in space I have ever seen, a visual treat, I liked everything about it.

Do you know what a roller pigeon is, Barney? They climb high and fast, then roll over and fall just as fast toward the earth. There are shallow rollers and deep rollers. You can’t breed two deep rollers, or their young will roll all the way down, hit, and die. Officer Starling is a deep roller, Barney. We should hope one of her parents was not.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
The best film nominated for Oscars this year in your opinion?
Maybe - either Parasite (that was my second watch) or 1917 (seen once, will watch again soon).

You weren’t asking me, but I’ll butt in. Yes, by a pretty wide margin.

Final Exam (1981)

A college girl gets cozy with the star quarterback in a parked car, until they're violated after dark. At nearby Lanier college, some frat boys fake a school slaughter as a prank to buy more time for the final week of exams. Does feature a Vertigo-esque finale, and while I don't consider it a total grand slam slasher, I mean, I enjoyed it. U probly won't want to watch it unless you enjoy fun films from this time.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

The snarky makeshift family of Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin face some growing pains. Even tho I enjoy them, I probly liked the blonde most of all, "Madison" played by Zoe Deutch. They could've better developed the rivalry mirror zombie-killers Luke Wilson and his nerdy rule-making Columbus-lookalike buddy too. Oh Rosario Dawson too, it was fun, I favor the first though.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)

Your planet and Outworld have begun to merge into one realm. Liu Kang, Kitana, Nighthawk, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Jax, Cyrax, Smoke, Motaro. I have come to the Eternal Palace, because your sacred rules have been broken... Shao Kahn has invaded Earth. As always, Raiden, you are granted 3 wishes. Baraka, usually one of the more striking, resembled a shabby Halloween costume.

U've all made me very proud
I will be watching u
So stay outta trouble
And remember
Be there for one another
Ur a family now

The Hill (1965)
That was a ****ing masterpiece. It's a war movie, directed by the incredible Sidney Lumet, who always seems to deliver fantastic films and starring Sean Connery in perhaps his finest role. Set in a British army prison in north Africa, five new inmates go through hell as they battle the harshness of the prison and its strict, and in some cases sadistic guards. The whole cast deliver in this highly underrated film.

Parasite (2019)

Not sure if I should rank this higher because it's a foreign film or if I'm already ranking it higher because it's a foreign film. Loved the characters, thought the ending was good but lacking.

Tearjerker and, yes, I cried. If you like animals, you will like this movie. I do & I did.

Struggled mightily through this movie. The 1st hour seemed like 3 hours. Several hours later (since I fell asleep twice) I reached the end. Unattractive family with dreadful table manners (they never stopped eating), but an interesting screenplay.

Samurai Rebellion 1967 ‘上意討ち 拝領妻始末’ Directed by Masaki Kobayashi

Masterful Japanese cinema experience.
My mind will probably keep processing the film for a couple of days, like it did with Kobayashi's Harakiri.

Found a great review I totally agree with by Holden Pike here;

Never seen it, but Lumet is one of my favorite directors, so i'm moving this one up on my watch list!

The Dead Lands (2014)

A Historical Maori action film that's pretty much like the old Italian barbarian films with better production values. It momentarily lost its steam in the middle and the ending was kind of lame but otherwise, it was rather entertaining. Lots of posing, flexing and sticking out tongues. I guess I'll have to check the new series as well.

The Mercenary (2019)

A standard Jesse V. Johnson movie. It's like an 80s action film (in good and in bad) and it's pretty bloody. Back in the day, I rated Savage Dog at 4/10 which seems a bit harsh today (I think the films are about equal). I don't like the way the action is done (it must be a stylistic choice as he does it in every film) but the attitude and sheer violence make up for it. It's kind of OK but like all of Johnson's films, it could quite easily be much better.

From what I had heard/read about this I didn't expect to like it that much but that's why you play the games. It exceeded my expectations and was a lot of fun. Pitt was fantastic, which is nothing new. I was really interested in how Tarantino was going to end this and I love what he did. The ending was hilarious ("Nah, it was dumber than that"). Top 5 Tarantino for me.

I think that may have been my favorite line in the film

Starred Up (2013)

Hard hitting film about an offender being incarcerated in an adult prison (I believe that's what Starred up means). A big part of the film is the relationship between the prison volunteer therapist (Rupert Friend) and Eric (jack O'Connell) and his fellow prisoners.

All the performances are great, especially O'Connell and Friend. Ben Mendelsohn, well, I just expect it from him. Genuine tension towards the end which wasn't wrapped up too sweetly which was appreciated.

The Hill 1965 Directed by Sidney Lumet

Another great and powerful film by Lumet, sawduck wasn't lying, this is an underrated movie, especially here. It's not on the Mofo top 100 of the 60's list, I searched for a thread about it, no result 0, I did find 9 threads about Silent Hill, 9?
The acting is very intense and very high level same goes for the camerawork and directing.
Earning a place on my personal favorite 60's movies list at #49 between Le Trou and Yojimbo.

The Gentlemen (2020)

It's an analogy for the current state of Ritchie's career.

21 (2008)

I'm way higher than I probably should be on this movie, yet it's because I simply love casino culture. I'm aware of the dramatization and deviation from the real story behind the film, but it is an exciting watch. Some of the emotional scenes are a bit eye rolling though
