I have been folloeing it a bit. I liked some aspects of Equilibrium, and other aspeacts I certainly didn;t like. But, after seeing an interview with WHimmer, in which he stated all the financial issues he had with the film, which led to studio issues, which led to him not being able to finish the shoot etc, made me wonder if given the right resources, this guy might be able to make a decent sci-fi picture. The final act of Equilibrium was laughable, and he said that himself, and that he hated the end and the fact that he couldn't shoot the end he wanted to shoot.

So, I will give the guy another shot. If he was a victim of hollywood studio bull****, maybe he will nail it this time, and release a fun action sci-fi piece with our little QT, Milla.

If he turns in another hack job, that will probably be it for me watching Whimmer's films...

I got a style-over-substance vibe from the trailer, but you never know. Equilibrium had a stab at some themes in an ok way, so maybe this'll do better, if he's been free to helm it how he wants. Doubt it's gonna be a Gattaca (plus nice thighs and guns) tho

I hope Mila's not getting typecasted into one specific type of movie. The whole genetic superhuman/mutant who kicks immense ass. Don't get me wrong, its entertaining, but it gets tiring after awhile.

Hmmm...This looks like AEon Flux + Resident Evil + Equilibrium with a hint of Elektra. Unfortunately, none of those movies were that good. It does look like it'll have alot of action and sfx suitable for the big screen...so I'll probably wait for dvd

I support the train of thought that says this movie looks unoriginal. It seems like a whole lot of action flare but taken from other movies and generally recycled.

I hate Milla's hair as well.

Not sure if you are familiar with Equilibrium, Obi, but it was quite...derivative. It had some cool ideas in it, and some well shot action scenes, but the more you looked at the film, the more it unraveled at the edges. Bale is excellent, as usual, but the villain is lame, and the ending is hacked up all over the place. As stated earlier, it wasn't really Whimmer's fault, but, I have a feeling we will have some rough edges on this piece as well, no matter what the budget.

I love little Milla, though, so I will see it...

I'm not sure this movie will be very "good", but I know it will be "entertaining", that I look forward too

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was for AEon Flux, but obviously it wasn't. Anyway...
Does anyone know the song that they play in the tv trailer...sung by that woman?

I dunno what the song is... But Aeon Flux sucked. I think this one might actually be a better type of that film. I'm going to see this one. The CGi is unbelievable, and the lighting/shooting techniques look very interesting...

There's treachery afoot!!!
This movie will either be another Aeon Flux or a good movie.

hell i pretty much like anything with milla jovovich in it except for resident evil i could have done without that, but ultraviolet looks very promising, better than aeon flux anyway. and that song is by evanessence, for whoever was wondering

I thought that Equilibrium was good, but I can only imagine what would happen if they would have the right resources like was said earlier, but I think Utlraviolet will be good but I didn't see Aeon Flux it just looks ****ty.

In Soviet America, you sue MPAA!
Fangoria has a good [url=http://www.fangoria.com/ghastly_review.php]review[/review] up today. It is everything you'd expect.

Yes indeed, this is Wimmer’s world and we’re mercilessly being dragged through it by our eyelids. The only restraint he exercises is thankfully in the hand-to-hand combat sequences. At least there’s still a director who believes in shooting a fight in wide shots rather than confusing close-ups. But, boy howdy, does he like to litter his compositions with debris—shreds of paper, flying plaster, shattering glass, you name it…if it’s going to explode, it’s going to explode *big time. That includes some questionably safe body armor that appears to bear all of the protection of a coat of tin foil.

The whole "female warrior" movie concept should finally be put to rest. What once was an ironic take on what a bad ass antagonist is supposed to be, has become a predictable cliche'. Ultraviolet? I liked it the first time when her name was Trinity, or Aeon Flux, or Ellen Ripley, or Sarah Connor, or any of Charlies' angels, or Lara Croft, or that Underworld babe. If these moviemakers think they're being clever by making the movie "tough guy" a woman, then I've got only one thing to say: Seen It.
