The Women Directors Hall of Fame

With the Directed By Women Countdown being the next we are planning on doing as a forum we thought it would be best to hold a Hall of Fame devoted exclusively to Women Directors. It's a great chance to prepare for the Countdown and possibly discover and discuss some great films. If you're not familiar with Hall of Fames all you have to do is nominate a film, then watch all of the films nominated by the members by the to be decided deadline then send a ranked list of all the films to me your host. The deadline for this is dependent on how many join, we give one week per film meaning if 12 join the deadline will be 12 weeks from the start date. If you believe you haven't seen enough films by Women Directors to take part then take a look at this list you may be surprised:

If you still don't think you have any to nominate then we accept blind nominations, meaning you choose a film you want to see rather than an already established favourite. Either way i hope some of you join. The deadline for sending a list for the Countdown is March 31st 2018.

Now i don't want to scare anyone away if you haven't joined a Hall of Fame before you are more than welcome and wanted, but we've had loads of problems with people dropping out so please don't join unless you are planning on finishing. Dropping out itself isn't the problem, stuff comes up in life that's more important than some Forum Game; the problem is people waiting right until the end to tell us they've dropped out or in some cases they keep claiming they'll watch the films until the host has no choice but to kick them out. Just plese don't do that. My advice would be to make sure you watch one per week, if you get the chance to watch more in a week do so then you are ahead of schedule. A big problem is clearly people starting off thinking i've got 12 weeks to watch 12 films that's plenty of time so i'll start in a few weeks, plenty do Hall of Fames that way and it's your choice but that time builds up and can get to the point where you feel forced into watching a bunch in a short amount of time which leads to people not finishing. There is plenty of time to finish the Hall of Fame, just use that time wisely.

The Rules:

Pick a Movie and PM it to me your host.

You have to have seen all movies nominated by the to be decided deadline to send a list. If you have seen one of the nominations recently enough that you don't believe a re watch is necessary then you don't have to see it again, just as long as you have seen all films by the end.

Your nomination has to be 220 Minutes or less.

You have to post something about the movies you watch. It doesn't have to be anything long or in depth, if you prefer posting a short paragraph or whatever that's fine just as long as you share your thoughts.

That's all i believe, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

oh I thought the limit was 180.
The first time i became aware of it was when i hosted the 11th HoF, i copy and pasted the rules Citizen had from the 10th - https://www.movieforums.com/communit...39#post1578239

No clue who came up with it as i said that was the first HoF i hosted.

It happened because essentially a TV miniseries was nominated once.

I have four agnes varda documentarys on my hoopla!
Which ones? I've seen two and three of her fictional films.

And we're off! @seanc sends the first nomination

I'm not sure if i'm going blind or not yet will probably wait to choose.

beaches of agnes, agnes varda from here to there, cinevardaphoto, daguerrotypes.

in case your wondering hoopla is a online library account where you can borrow and watch movies on your pc

would you accept me? Not sure if I'll join but I might
Of course.

Beaches of Agnes i probably watch i'll watch next, that or One Sings, The Other Doesn't. And yeah i know what Hoopla is.

also if you would like were doing a french new wave monthly thats extending into january and if you wanna post about her please do. I will watch one of her films by then for sure
