Last Life in the Universe. :P

Ruang rak noi nid mahasan [Last Life In The Universe]

Weird is relative.
There's a new one from Hungary I watched a couple days ago... On Body and Soul.

Anna Karenina (the 2012 film plays up Karenin's loneliness and Anna becomes lonely when she is cast out of society).
Shame
The Woodlanders

Edward Scissorhands
Der Himmel über Berlin
The Lobster
The Martian
The shape of water

Someone mentioned Midnight Cowboy, and I agree.

It is not the major theme, but lonely isolation is an under current in Green Book.

I think it is also an underlying theme in The Pawnbroker.

Two of the most heartbreakingly lonely films I can think of are:

The Sterile Cuckoo

La Strada

Did anyone mention Kelly Reichard's Old Joy ? Gus van Sand's Gerry ?
