My Favorite Dustin Hoffman Performances

Is that because he stays in character or is he difficult for other reasons? I read his bio years ago but dont remember that being mentioned. It probably was and I've just forgotten.

I've never heard any stories about him staying in character, but I do remember hearing that he had a hard time leaving Raymond Babbitt at work. Basically what I've heard is that he is known for butting heads with directors and often ends up doing a lot of the directing himself. He apparently drove Robert Benton nuts during Kramer Vs Kramer.
