I already did the actors, so I thought I better take care of the ladies too...if I had given out the Oscars for Outstanding Lead Actress during the 1980's:

1980: Mary Tyler Moore, Ordinary People

1981: Diane Keaton, Reds

1982: Jessica Lange, Frances

1983: Shirley MacLaine, Terms of Endearment

1984: Judy Davis, A Passage to India

1985: Mia Farrow, The Purple Rose of Cairo

1986: SIgourney Weaver, Aliens

1987: Glenn Close, Fatal Attraction

1988: Jodie Foster, The Accused

1989: Jessica Tandy, Driving Miss Daisy

Mia Farrow, Glenn Close, and Jodie Foster are all great picks to me.

Great to see some love for Cher in Mask...I think she deserved a nomination but not the win. I think Hepburn's win for On Golden Pond was the least deserved of the 4 Oscars she won, there was too much other strong work from the ladies that year.

Linda Hamilton in Terminator

Hamilton was terrific in The Terminator but there was just WAY too much stronger work by actresses that year for her to get a nomination, let alone an award.

Maybe not strong work like you say but here are ones I really liked.

Alyssa Milano-Embrace of the Vampire
Kim Basinger-Nine 1/2 Weeks
Linda Hamilton-The Terminator

I've never even heard of Embrace of the Vampire...Sharon Stone was better in Casino.
