Films That NEED A Reboot

Tools

Different from Remakes, What films need a reboot instead of Hollywood pocketing the cash and making a crappy product. Spiderman is getting a reboot (Or Ultimate Spiderman adaption) and Casino Royale was a 007 Reboot, so i should ask if there are any other films or franchises in need of a reboot.

ha i honestly thought this said "films that need a robot" and I started thinking of some, but that's a different thread...

i think i mentioned in the spidey 4 thread that I'd rather see a Daredevil reboot. idk if it NEEDs it but Ghost Rider was pretty bad same with Last Airbender and Dragonball: Evolution.

I'd see a Zorro reboot...
I'll be seeing the Suspiria & Hellraiser reboots for sure.

but the one that needs it the most (or I want the most) is Mortal Kombat

Daredevil, Ghost Rider & Dragonball could use reboots, but Ghost Rider has a sequel coming out which will flop. I thought the 2003 Daredevil wasn't too bad. Mortal Kombat could use a serious Reboot. I would wait another decade for a Zorro or perhaps none at all because the 98 film was too good to reboot. Suspirira & Hellraiser are mehs in my book.

This and Resident Evil have potential to be amazing, but unless a true fan writes them...
I'll be seeing the Suspiria reboots for sure.
WHAT?

well the only reason I had Suspiria in my radar was because David Gordon Green was attached to direct but it appears that he is not 'officially' on anymore according to IMdB...i only saw the original Suspiria this past year and it was friggin schweet! i haven't seen the Argento sequels to it but i reallllly enjoyed the film and I trust DGG to do something with it and hope he still is attached to the film

some say imitating is the sincerest form of flattery....but some don't...

i honestly don't think any filmmaker involved in a reboot considers themselves disrespecting the past filmmaker's achievements or efforts. so i'm afraid i'm going to have to question your question.

All I meant was the word "remake" carries negative connotations and the OP specifically made the distinction between the two in a manner which reflected that.

Remake=Bad, Reboot=Good. That's how I read that. I could be wrong, but it seemed pretty clear to me.

Reboot = remake. "Reboot" is the new term Hollywood uses to say "Yeah, we screwed up last time, so we're starting over." (examples - Batman & Robin rebooted to Batman Begins, Superman Returns rebooted to Man of Steel, Spider-Man 3 rebooted to whatever they're going to call it) "Remake" means "That great film is really old so no one will watch it, let's make a new one." (examples - Mr. Deeds, King Kong, True Grit) The only difference is in the minds of the audience.

For the record, I don't view Casino Royal as a reboot. I know the studio called it that, but I never saw the Bond series as a continuous narrative or anything. Each Bond film pretty much stands on its own as far I'm concerned. And Star Trek was an in-continuity reboot, so I think that's different also.

"Murder on the orient express" would be a good reboot/remake, the original is good but a new generation twist would be good.

I thought the original mortal kombat was good, fair enough the acting wasnt top notch but I thought the story line was ok. I liked it for the nostalgia to see scorpion and sub-zero.

Dragon Ball seriously is in need of a reboot everything about it was bad, but dont agree on Last Airbender= I liked that film in everyway.
