Would you support the idea of a black actor playing James Bond?

We've gone on holiday by mistake
I'm not a fan of Craig or Dalton really but Brosnan, Connery and Moore were great. As far as I'm concerned there's only been one good Bond film in last 30 years and that's Goldeneye. Casino and Skyfall were OK, so they wouldn't have much to lose.

They should just say Naomie Harris is the new Bond. The reaction would be fun.

Moneypenny and Bond?? She walk in to M's waiting room and throws the bowler hat to herself at the desk, like that trick in "the Prestige"

Harris’ Moneypenny should become M at some point.

Boom!

There was a debate a while back in the UK that the next James Bond should be played by Idris Elba, a black man. Personally I think this would be "forced diversity" and would detract attention away from the actual film. I like Elba, quality actor and a real presence but would be weird having a black bond.

What would people think of a Black Bond? What would be next? MLK biopic played by a white man? Heck why not a white woman?
It wouldn't bother me mostly because I'm not that invested in Bond as a character.
Secondly, because I don't think Bond's race has particular historical significance (although I've never read any Bond lore). The fact that Bond is a fictional character who transcends time also helps.

Here's what I'm talking about - they made Nick Fury black (first in the "Ultimate" comics) and in the movies. Now, Fury was a long-established character who began as a WWII soldier who led the Howling Commandos of E-Z company. He's still young today due to some sci-fi mumbo jumbo. Not that there weren't plenty of black soldiers who fought WWII, but to make Fury a black man would be to erase or alter his past due to the historical fact of military segregation during WWII. His ethnicity plays a role in his history and that of those around him.

I've read that, in the comics, they now say that the Samuel L. Jackson-looking version of Fury is the original's son (thus integrating both versions).

Timothy Dalton is my fave. I just like Timothy Dalton.
Dalton is my all time favourite as well. Living daylights has my favourite Bond girl can't remember her name I just remember she plays a cello

There's a fan theory that James Bond is a codename like 007 that's applied to various different agents.
Didn’t Skyfall debunk that?

Living daylights has my favourite Bond girl can't remember her name
yeah...

Maryam d’abo.. she has nothing to declare except....?

I think Moore was really bad, Connery is my favourite by far but i think Elba would be better than him.
I finally saw the one with George Lazenby (he'd always been something of a joke to me as the "one-time" Bond). Ultimately, I thought he looked great - he's acting wasn't terrific, but hey, it's James Bond - the guy's a shallow, womanizing hit-man, he's not a terribly deep character. Lazenby looked like a Neal Adams drawing come to life!

That's one of the best Bond films IMO. Would only have the first three, Goldeneye and Casino Royale above it probably. Maybe The Spy Who Loved Me.

I also never liked Moore as Bond either - he always seemed too whimsical or something - he lacked Connery's hard edge.

Sadly, my favorite Roger Moore role was in a horrible movie called Boat Trip as a wealthy, aging gay man looking for a young neophyte. The movie is stupid comedy dreck only made bearable by Moore (and the Swedish Suntanning Team).

Are you saying you approve of his woman beating? I mean that's the interview where he says it i believe.

Who cares what color Idris Elba is.. He would make a cool James Bond!

The only James Bond I watch is Daniel Craig...I will miss him though.

Edit: Who cares what color an actor is to play a specific role... if he can play it.. then he should!

The color of the skin means nothing to me...

I get the feeling Elba’s Bond would actually be pretty similar to Craig’s.
