Great japanese movies from 80s and 90s?

Tools

While had seen stuff from k.Kurosawa, miike, shinya tsukamoto -silly me forgot kitano's - or underlined shohei imamura and nagisha oshima, pretty much their cinema right at that period of pre- and post-buble economy was the times that i lacked some insight for

“I was cured, all right!”
Did you have seen "Maboroshi no hikari [1995]"? (dunno the international name)
It's a good drama with some unusual way to show grief and etc
If you like this I recommend the others works of the director Hirokazu Koreeda.

The Japanese asset price bubble is a good theme for a film =]
Is there a movie that approaches this crisis? Yakuza 0 is a good game that was set during the bubble but... well it's not a movie.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
Funnily enough I've been watching the early Kitano films this week. Violent Cop, Boiling Point, Sonatine and I'll probably get onto Hana-Bi, Zatoichi, Brother.

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

Haven't seen Family Game.
Love Hotel is a masterpiece of pinku eiga genre. Screenplay written by the brilliant Takashi Ishii
If you delve into my list you will find out there are many pinku eiga films. Only the best selection!!!
I haven't seen A Taxing Woman. I've seen The Funeral, though.

@Mr Minio
Yeah the funeral, it sound great too i wonder.
Hahha noticing how fishy most of the titles was. I dont hte pinku eiga in general as even barely see any. It just lack enthusiasm for now

I see you love postman blues. the premise sound dope for me, but The moment hitman's flashback struck me how silly it was and cringey. still holding it up lol

How about anno's love and pop?

"Honor is not in the Weapon. It is in the Man"
Juzo Itami's films (the aforementioned Tampopo as well as The Funeral, A Taxing Woman, and Minbo) are a few I would recommend.

Interesting, this seems super specific to me (for some reason I have watched a lot of Japanese movies from before 1970 and some from after 2000. Kurosawa dominates a lot of the earlier ones of course ). The one I would mention would be Audition though which was like late 90's.
