Hey so i have been on this forum for quite some time and decided to go on rants about some movies i have seen mainly because I am a bit bored at the moment. These reviews will be very much short and not so sweet. All this reviewing stuff is not my forte, but i am gonna give it a go. If any of ye are having difficulty sleeping reading these may cure your ailment .

Ok so

Garage

Set in rural Ireland, this film focuses on the everyday life of garage worker Josie, played amazingly by Pat Short (an Irish actor, more notably known for his portrayal as one of the comedic duo d'unbelievables (I would be shocked if anyone outside my island has heard of them, (and yes despite what David o Hara states in Braveheart it is my island!!)).

A slow witted and socially disabled person, Josie perpetually goes through his days in a never ending cycle of monotony. Living and working in this garage, spending most of his time alone, Josie's simple mind and warm heart cant help you ache for him. Unable to find a companion he spends his nights down in the local pub, only to be ridiculed by a few of the local drunkards.

He strikes up a rapport with a new recruit to the garage, teenager David (played by Conor Ryan) through the initial medium of alcohol. It is this friendship that becomes the highlight of Josie's days until it lands him in a bit of trouble with the Gardai (local police). Josie, oblivious to the accusations made against him (showing pornographic material to a minor) loses his only friend and thus slips back into his previous daunting lifestyle with the stigma of those accusations attached to him.

All alone again, the movie sadly ends with Josie slowly wading through the river ultimately to take his own life.

While the movie needs alot of patience to view, as it a slow paced movie, i do believe it is apt in that it conforms with Josie's slow paced nature

A fantastically portrayed movie, and a recipient of the C.I.C.A.E. Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007, it is well worth the watch.

4.5/5
