link the movies

That's no fun. I actually find it more fun to try to make the list long. Here's a nice, long one I had in mind:

The Santa Clause -> Tim Allen -> Big Trouble -> Andy Richter -> Cabin Boy -> Chris Elliot -> There's Something About Mary -> Cameron Diaz -> Shrek -> Mike Myers -> So I Marred an Axe Murderer -> Nancy Travis -> Married to the Mob

Maybe I'm just crazy...but I love long links like that. Really short ones are fun, too. Just to make sure we're all on the same page, though: absolutely NO materials other than your own brain are allowed, right? No IMDB, or any other websites/books/magazines/etc?

It may be fun to you for whatever reason, but it's not the point to these kinds of games. We're trying to link by the fewest films possible.

But you can play it your way, if'n you like.

And I'm not using the IMDb, but thanks for checking.

Anyone giving it a go from Broadcast News to The Bad News Bears?

Broadcast News - William Hurt - The Big Chill - Kevin Kline - Chaplin - Walter Matthau - Bad News Bears.

Here's an easy one: Howard's End to Man on the Moon.

Citizen Kane's Joseph Cotten was in Heaven's Gate with John Hurt, who was in Rob Roy with Liam Neeson, star of Schindler's List.

Thunderbolt & Lightfoot to Tango & Cash

I think it's implied that you not use the easy on-line resources. It makes it a lot less fun for the person looking 'em up anyway.

On the other hand, since not many people seem to be playing, I say if a peek or three at the IMDb will get you lurkers going, that's fine and dandy too.

Whatever. There's no money on this, right. Just play.

Howards End - Anthony Hopkins - The Grinch - Jim Carrey - Man on the Moon
Apparently it was easier than I thought (here was mine):

Howards End - Helena Bonham Carter - Fight Club - Edward Norton - The People vs. Larry Flynt - Courteny Love - Man on the Moon

Here's Thunderbolt & Lightfoot to Tango & Cash:

Thunderbolt & Lightfoot - Jeff Bridges - King Kong - Charles Grodin - Clifford - Martin Short - Mars Attacks - Jack Nicholson - Batman - Jack Palance - Tango & Cash

How about Bonnie & Clyde to Top Gun.

Oops. Forget the next link.

The Godfather Part II and Casablanca

You forgot to put the Basic Instinct link between Stone and Douglas, but we knew what you meant.

Casablanca's Ingrid Bergman was part of the Murder on the Orient Express with Martin Blasam along for the ride. Balsam cameos in Scorsese's re-make of Cape Fear with Robert DeNiro, the young Vito Corleone of The Godfather Part II.

Big to Little Big Man

Big - Tom Hanks - Saving Private Ryan - Matt Damon - Rounders - John Malkovich - The Glass Menagerie - Karen Allen - Raiders of the Lost Ark - Harrison Ford - What Lies Beneath - Michelle Pfeiffer - Wolf - Jack Nicholson - Chinatown - Faye Dunaway - Little Big Man

Blade Runner TO The Front Page(1974)
________
Kid Wellbutrin

Jack Lemmon has one of the more visible of the multitudinous cameos in Altman's The Player, where good ol' Brion "Leon" James was the Studio Chief. But a cameo is a bit of a cheat for me personally, so...

BladeRunner's M. Emmet Walsh was in Twilight with Newman, Hackman and Susan Sarandon, who had one of her earliest featured roles in Wilder's re-make of The Front Page.

Next: Barry Levinson's Diner to David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch

Well, I guess nobody's going to take a crack at my last pairing. It could have worked with: Diner's Mickey Rourke was in Coppola's The Rainmaker with Roy Scheider of Naked Lunch.

How about this coupling?...

Men In Black to Mystery Men

Tommy Lee Jones was in mIB with Will Smith
Smith was in 6 DEGREES OF SEPERATION with Donald Sutherland
Sutherland was in PANIC with William H Macy
Macy was in MYSTERY MEN
