Round 14
1. Merle Haggard - Branded Man
(We were discussing the Mt. Rushmore of female country artists earlier. Well, Haggard's face is certainly carved into the mountainside of male country artists.)
2. Raekwon - Incarcerated Scarfaces
(Possibly my favorite track from the album, which has been a stand-out to me so far while going through the early Wu solo efforts. The beat, the flow, the lyrical prowess. Hard as pavement.)
3. Interpol - Untitled
(This would be the perfect song to just sorta zone out to while driving down an empty interstate at night.)
4. Caro Emerald - Back It Up
(Very enjoyable. Jazzy, vintage style with a modern beat and pop-friendly chorus. A refreshing mix of new and old, though I wish the needle was tilted a tad more toward the retro sound.)
5. George Strait - The Cowboy Rides Away
(I didn't dress up in a cowboy costume at a young age and attend a George Strait concert where several hot cowgirls flirted with me, so I don't have the personal connection. Hell, I haven't even watched Pure Country. Of the male country artists who are considered all-timers, he's probably the one I've listened to the least.)
6. Frank Sinatra - Strangers in the Night
(I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer Sinatra the actor over Sinatra the crooner.)
7. Takarazuka - Prince Rudolph
(I auditioned for this but they turned me down.)
8. Hoobasucks - The Reason
(This is like being accosted by an old high-school classmate I always loathed.)
