Is porn art?

If everything was still done on film more people would accept that it's art. Fact is nowadays video cameras been that anyone can make a film, anyone can make a porn film, whatever. Digital videos/films people make and upload, people have no problem calling them art, so why the difference for this. There's a creative process and conscious decisions made to capture something. Digital video has just meant that creation and sharing has massively evolved.

I think any visual or audible form can be an art. So yes.

If you watch a specific work of pornography and you feel it's beautiful then you'd probably declare it art. However, I tend to get those feelings from the human form though and not from the pornographic act itself, but I'd say it can be found in pornography. But the geometry of intertwined humans can also be quite "artistic" in itself. Sorry if I'm trying to answer the question. I think this is most of what I have to contribute to that.

It's no different than any other film that is produced for the sake of entertainment. It's basically the video version of erotic fiction, which is also an art form.

The reason I don't think porn is art is because for it to be art it must be handled tastefully, which it never really is. There are films that I think sway close to porn, but they are handled in a more graceful way. Shame is a very erotic film that some could describe as porn and I think that film is art.

I think you can make porn artistically as there are ones out there with much better acting, lighting, directing, editing, and sound, compared to others, which have no artistic effort put into them at all, and feels like anyone could have shot then. So there is professional and amateur in terms of craft, I would say

Another thing I love about the Italian pornographers is that they continued to use 35mm film up until the 00s. They also cared about the lighting, mise-en-scène and using a variety of angles.
