What is going on?

I have just noticed that since like December there have been all these shootings in America.

Since Friday there have been 3 massacres. That is unbelivable. Three massacres in less than a week. The one in the Civic Center, the one in Pensilvania and one that has just happend in Washington. That is just in the past four days!

It seems like that when ever i turn on the news now, there a news reader is talking about some massacre that has happend in America.

If you live in America, are you scared and what are your thoughts on this?

I live in UK and everytime I turn he news on it is some sort of tragedy including shottings, stabbings or some poor person has had thier life ended prematuely. The news always shows the bad news as it sells, it is very rare that the news shows anything about someone's acheivments or some goodnews. I tend not to watch to much news or read the tabloids that much anymore.

That may be the case, but as of late the amount of shootings has sky rocketed from the past.

I saw a doco about that song and aparently it is based on a shooting.

Sadly, people are claiming depression from losing their jobs as the motive for killing people. Ok, if you're depressed about losing your job and feel you can't perform any other task, kill yourself, if you feel that that will make everything better.

It makes me so angry when these people are taking out other people as well, just because they don't feel good. Take, for example, Washington state. A father kills his kids and then turns the gun on himself. Don't know what they're saying the motive was there, but seriously!?

The one that cracks me up, only because of what they're saying the guy's motive was, is the shooting in Pennsylvania. This guy starts shooting at people because he was afraid Obama was going to outlaw firearms. So yeah, you want to make your case to keep guns, by shooting and killing people, good plan!.

So, back to your original question king, I have no clue as to what's going on.

I'm not sure if there's more stuff going on, or if more attention is being paid to it. Or, it might just be a small cluster of tragedies near each other -- it's bound to happen sometimes.

As for whether or not I'm scared: well, no. I would be if it happened near me, but I don't think that it will. America is, to be put it simply, really big. There are over 300 million of us here, after all, so while part of it may be that there's more of it going on, part of it is that there's a whole lot of us.

I don't want to diminish the magnitude of each event, because the loss is always immeasurable, but three shootings in a week or two may seem more unbelievable than it really is given the sheer size of the population.

So, for that reason, and others, I'm loathe to read any deep meaning or significance in all this.

A couple of weeks ago I heard a drive by shooting about three blocks away from my apartment. It does make you wonder sometimes if something could happen to you.

Update from the states (Specifically Akron, Oh). They just found a body in a dumpster at a Circle K Station about 3 blocks from where I live. Wonderful isn't it?

My role model is Madea. I just carry a gun everywhere I go, for protection.
