I personally have a hard time finishing westerns unless I'm in a western mood. This can include good ones, too.
movies you can only finish when your in the mood.
2001 : A Space Odyssey
Sometimes, I am just not in the mood for its languid pacing. I always come back to finish it fairly quickly after putting it down, though.

Need mood + time (it's 3h 17min), hopefully this week.

The thread title reminded me of Solaris (the original).
Similar to Sedai's choice of 2001.
I really wanted to see a sci-fi I hadn't seen before and found Solaris in my On-Demand menu.
After a while (around the time of the "tunnel scene") I began to get mad at the movie (I was really craving some sci-fi action and special effects)... then got bored... then fell asleep.
But the next day I kept thinking about what I'd seen of it... couldn't stop thinking about it... so a day later I watched it again... now I was in a much more intrigued mood.
