Quintin Tarantino, the guy himself is a bit of a nut but his films always turn out to be legends or cult movies.

Ridley Scott... because he seems like a top white guy the way film directors ought to be. He's got a design sense, intelligent filming concepts and a good eye. DVD's at home are very engaging compared with say Star Wars which is a rathar stale funfair.

sorry i didnt answer sooner...but nooo...you know transformers, bad boys, armageddon-not one i cared for, but a fav of my mom, pearl habor....

he produced i am number four, the new nightmare on elm street with jackie earl, a couple of other scary movies...

and isnt his name attached to battle la???

A system of cells interlinked
I think Lime might be hinting at the fact that all of Bay's films are overblown and silly in most people's opinions (which really mean jack, I guess), and he can only really direct action. His dramatic scenes are abysmally bad. ... I consider him to be one of the worst directors of all time, but I REALLY dislike his style of film making, along with clowns like Emmerich.

Battle LA is a film I can put at the top of the list for "Films people said were so bad, they walked right out." At LEAST half a dozen people I know said the film was edited so poorly, you just couldn't tell what was going on, who was shooting who, or anything else for that matter, so they stood up and hit the exit. I don't think he directed it, but you mentioned he was involved...

But really, this thread is about directors, so his production projects don't really rank here, as bad as they are, too... Those horror films you mentioned are all absolutely awful, and they got the welcome they deserved from critics and audiences, who universally pretty much hated the Nightmare remake as well as the totally unnecessary Friday the 13th re-imagining.

That said, the guy CAN direct action pretty damn well, so I will give him that.
