Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
I bought all the 12" singles of the Undertones, and I still have them, unlike some of my fave goodies which have seemed to disappear down through the years. And R.I.P. John Peel, one of the greatest humans who ever existed!

I actually found the Undertones to be the second coming of the Beatles. The way they evolved so quickly was really rather incredible. They went from a punk band to a white soul band in about four years!

Ahh, John Peel. If you'll allow me to brag a little, he played our EP on his show once (but he played my brother's band 4 or 5 times ) and we all missed it!

Of course, someone might just have been lying to us...

This might sound a bit Irish but, until he died, I thought he was the greatest living Englishman, a title now bestowed upon Blibby's father Sir Stephen Fry.

I think the only Irish bands who have approached The Undertones were the long-forgotten A House and The Divine Comedy.

We've become a country of increasingly dull and introspective singer-songwriters. Yuk.

My brother had a tough time dealing with Feargal's "skinnyness", but he's a pretty superficial guy anyway.

And as a response to your post, HA!!
He's always come across as a bit of a cold fish - FS, not your brother, who I'm sure is a top fella.

I suppose his new(ish) life as a big time music industry sort (again, FS, not your brother) means that financially he didn't have to have anything to do with the Undertones' reunion. For example - Mickey Bradley now answers the phones at BBC Radio Foyle...

(I hate crowds talking in small clubs while good bands perform, and I believe this song is truly inspired by Dylan, but it's easily one of my fave songs and albums of the year [came out yesterday]. The best thing about the video is that you can actually hear how awesome the story is which the song presents.)
