On a related note, I was in a used bookstore the other day and found a bunch of American Film magazines from the 70's and 80's. The cover of one (several covers were devoted to Heaven's Gate) proffered the question: "Will Heaven's Gate change the face of American Cinema?"
Although I guess they were right. The big change being that Michael Cimino's not allowed near film cameras anymore.
