I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

The reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer is coming out on July 18, 2025.

The cast is a "who's who" of upcoming young stars, including (reportedly) the Prince from the live-action The Little Mermaid.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is hooking its cast ahead of a planned release next summer.

Madelyn Cline, star of Neflix’s Outer Banks, and Camila Mendes, who played Veronica on CW’s long-running Riverdale, are in talks to lead the ensemble of Sony Pictures’ reboot of the 1997 horror hit.

Also in negotiations are Tony Award nominee Sarah Pidgeon, Atlanta’s Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer -King, who played Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

THR previously reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in talks to reprise their roles from the initial movie.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is directing the new project from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, one of the producers of the original, is producing the reboot.

Sony is moving swiftly on this one as it has pencilled in a release of July 18, 2025 for the feature.

I'm not exited.
You can't exit until the movie is over

I saw Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's first film, Someone Great, and thought it was terrible. I'm not sold on the cast, but maybe it will end up being decent.

Sony must be confident if they're making it one of their summer releases

Are they gonna make it closer to the book or rehash the original?
It's looking to be a direct sequel to the first 2 because we have legacy characters coming back potentially.

Looks like a bunch of good looking kids that cant act a lick. Ill root for them to die, such a winning formula.

But if they killed all the young kids in the movie, who'd be around 30 years from now when they re-reboot the series?

A system of cells interlinked
As someone who thinks the original and it's poorly named sequels were a bad idea, I will probably skip this.

Would be really nice if she came back, right?

Brandy Norwood has heard about the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot that is in the works and is revealing if she would want to be part of it.

The Front Room star was recently asked about reprising her role in the new slasher film sequel more than 25 years after she starred in the film’s original sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

“I heard some things about,” Norwood told Entertainment Tonight. “So, hopefully.”

Norwood starred in the 1998 sequel opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt as Karla Wilson, who didn’t die as “it was in the contract,” the singer and actor said.

Freddie Prinze Jr has officially joined Sony‘s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel film, reprising the role of Ray Bronson from the original 1997 movie and its 1998 follow-up, sources reveal to Deadline.

Deadline revealed Prinze Jr and his co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt were negotiating to return for the franchise continuation project when it was confirmed to be in development in early 2023. Hewitt is still very much in negotiations to reprise the role of Julie James, we hear.
