John Connor's Top 250 of All Time

Ok, that's one plus Citizen Kane I assume, so only 98 left, and you're good to go CR..
Actually I could make a 100 out of your 250 easily, as you've got so many cool films!

Out of these I love: Giant, On the Waterfront, White Heat, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, In Time, Mr Nobody and Passengers. Passengers was my nomination in the 14th HoF

Most of the rest of the films in your montage I haven't seen yet.

Nice to see we do have similar taste regarding some movies / genres. Good nom, reading the 14th hof now, would have expected 'M' to finish higher, never seen Barton Fink or Mommy though, Contratiempo is pretty great.

I wonder did they ever do a Crystal Skull version of this?
Don't think so, there is so much more fan art love for the first three and only official dvd / blu-ray package deal artwork that include Crystal Skull.

Congratulations on finishing the list, @John-Connor. 250 is a lot of films, and with all the grouped entries and honorable mentions, I feel like you probably doubled that number. Personally, I would've preferred to see you tackle a smaller list if it meant the accompaniment of write-ups. As I've said before on the forum, seeing a list of favorites is far less interesting to me than reading about why the person loves those particular films. I know you said that English is your third language, but you seem to have a stronger grasp of the language than some of the native speakers around here, so that shouldn't be a deterrent.

As for the list itself, I love the diversity. I can probably count on one hand (with maybe two or three fingers from the other) the number of films on here that I dislike. The ones I haven't seen are films already on my watchlist, and I added the two I hadn't previously heard of: Smoke and Blood In Blood Out. We share a ton of favorites, especially within the action genre. Three of your top ten -- The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, Once Upon a Time in the West -- are in my top ten as well. Also love seeing The Karate Kid and Bloodsport crack the top 100. I don't mind the grouping of trilogies and whatnot, but grouping all of Kurosawa's samurai films together as one entry definitely felt like a cheat.

Thanks Cap, also for the rep. Will do smaller lists with write-ups in the future, I'm thinking more genre specific lists. About the language thanks, the translating can be time consuming sometimes. Sorry bout the cheat but I just couldn't cut the movies that are in the 250-245 spots, so I had to 'improvise' Would love to check out your list as well, if you have one.

Been following so I've been aware how you've been announcing the movies but when I saw this my brain malfunctioned for a split second. I thought you were going to have Rhinestone at #8 which would have been a little surprising. For the record I love that awful film. Great list!

Now that you mention it, totally forgot about rhinestone and young Sly's soft-erotic stuff..

Nice list of movies and some of my favorites on here that I like for example: Halloween (the f'n best looking Halloween movie poster btw), Scream, Terminator, Casino, The Warriors, Indiana Jones, Goodfellas, Godfather and a few more. Also I love how this thread is nicely built, it shows how much work you put into to it, I'm not even sure if I could do 250 movies, luckily I just did a thread about my 100 favorite movies instead.

Btw, you swerved me at #8 since I thought you would put Terminator as #1 since your username is John Connor , smart move for making #1 a different movie.

fun fact / trivia:
"Vito Corleone" is the only character in the history of cinema that has won an Oscar twice.
Well it seems this bad-ass fact and character is about to get some company from another very bad-ass character in cinema; The Joker.
Is it because of the character or because of the masterful actors that portrayed them? Or a combination of both?

If you have Vertigo at #62, I can't wait to see numbers 1-61...

Just teasing. Enjoying your list.

~Doc
I like vertigo everytime i watch it i like it even more, and i fall in love with kim novak after every viewing

Maybe it's just me, but in 2020, Top Gun comes off as terribly dated...I am of the opinion that this movie has not held up at all over the years.

Been a while since I've last seen it, very nostalgia driven placement @ 224 for me, couldn't leave it off, and the soundtrack still kicks ass .

Maybe you should watch this in the morning with a cup of coffee .
I've seen some snooze fests but Michael Clayton isn't one of 'em.

I’ve never even gotten that far.

The trick is not minding
I didn’t know about this list. Now I’m going to have go back and read the list.
One of these days I should really sit down and rank my top 100 or 250 films. Such a monumental task however.
Maybe this will inspire me
