28 Years Later (Boyle/Garland)

Tools

Just over two decades after unleashing a zombie epidemic, modern horror classic 28 Days Later is getting a new sequel. Maybe even a trilogy of sequels.

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of the 2002 movie, are reuniting for 28 Years Later, a new zombie thriller that is expected to hit studios, streamers and other potential buyers later this week, according to multiple sources. WME, which reps Boyle and Garland, will take out the package and handle the sale.

The package isn’t just a simple modern sequel installment; the movie already had a follow-up with 28 Weeks Later, released in 2007. The duo were only involved with as executive producers on that film. Now, the hope is to launch a new trilogy.

So it's going to be a trilogy....looks like they are going to try and finance all three films with Boyle directing the first one. I guess Garland will do the third and who knows who do the middle chapter

I had no idea of the filming locations until this week, really really interested to see it, filmed around a lot of places I use to live near up in the North east of England. Kielder Forest will be fantastic!

Really short teaserrrrrr:

Followed by 28 Decades Later, and then 28 Centuries later, and then 28 Millennia later.

I want to wait until 28 Eons Later and then I'll catch up.
"Oh man...the Federation of Undead Star Systems has just caused an outbreak in one of our far out planets."

Well this spoils everything now we know Kraven the Hunter survives his movie and runs into Cardinal Thomas from Conclave.

But really...I haven't seen a trailer since Top Gun Maverick where I just know this film is going to be a megahit

Man, what a trailer.
I’m sad they spoil Cillian in it. Especially because of the way they spoil him. It would’ve been a lot more fun to see that in the actual theater.

Based on that scene and who is in the foreground (Jodie Cormier and the young kid) I'm not so sure that's Murphy or if that's not a very well placed misdirect. Because this guy is also in the movie.

It could definitely be a miss direct.

I think I was just so “ah dammit” that I didn’t really think much of alternatives. But it sure looks very much like Cillian.

One of the things to consider is the Zombies don't show up till the end because when you look at the trailer you seem to have people using bows and arrows and other people using firearms. This might be the central conflict of the film. They really are keeping a lot of things close to the vest right now. That scene might also be a dream sequence with Jodie Cormier in the foreground and Cillian's son...rising up in the background as a Zombie. It does seem based on the colouring of the shot to be much brighter than the rest of the film.

I'm pretty sure the film opens with Jodie Cormier as a child watching teletubbies and that's where the majority of the Zombie action comes from.

Wow what a trailer! I love the inspired use of the Boots poem by Rudyard Kipling, here's a video of Boots mixed with the 28 Days Later theme...
