You can't win an argument just by being right!
So few people voted in Best Trailer category that I'm thinking of eliminating it next year. It's weird because it should be the one category that everyone is able to nominate in.

Yeah I actually really like trailers. Going off to check my list to see if I voted.

yeah I like to watch as much as possible as well.

Do you remember the media attention at the time? I dont recall any mention of the mothers at all but that's bye the bye. I was just curious if you remember it and what you thought, and how different or the same it is once you see the movie.
Also, keep an eye out for the cgi people were buzzing about when it came out.
I will. I feel like I remember the media attention pretty well but.yeah. I don't remember the mother at all. Just her and the crazy was boyfriend. I have to say there has been some stuff bothering me a bit already surrounding the film. Janney thanking Harding for allowing them to tell the story is just a bizarre thing to me. Maybe I am missing something.

Trailers don't stick for me. Usually just Star Wars or a movie from a director I have been anticipating for a long time.

- I hoped to see the two leads of Loveless in the acting categories, but I figured they wouldn't pop up so whatever.
I nominated the lead actress, Scarlett Lion may have too but yeah she had no chance. I may have nominated Sacred Deer for Cinematography too don't remember, if i didn't it was either close or i forgot because it did look great.

I wasnt as much as a world news hound back then, and let's face it, it was a long time ago,and my memory isnt what it used to be but I do remember a media frenzy but yeah. specifically about her, the husband and Nancy. I dont remember the 'CIA spook' friend so much. Then it was all overshadowed when a mother in the US threw acid on the face of a young cheerleader who was a friend and the competition for her daughter. Like what the hell? Cheerleading? Is it reall such a do or die thing that she would even consider hurting another child? Far out.

I momentarily forgot what was mentioned before about Allison during her acceptance speech I think, thanking Tonya for allowing them to tell the story. I dont get that either but maybe she was speaking about handing over the rights to the book? I dont know the ins and out of all that. I was probably reading comments in the chat room rather than listening to speeches.

Her thanking Tonya was at the Globes I think. Definitely was before the Oscars but maybe she did again. I am sure people think I am being a judgemental prick, it's just odd to me.

That's not judgmental. It is odd. Even odder was that she was invited, I thought.

Speaking of odd, a bit odd that the actor alleged to have kiddy porn on his lap top was there as well. I've only seen snippets because I didnt watch the before circus.

Who's that

I cant remember her name. Will do a search.

I was completely wrong and not the first time, or last. Amanda Holloway, and she conspired to murder the mother of the cheeleader. The assassin reported her to police and she was immediately charged. The trials must have been at the same time and the poor gutter press couldnt handle two sensations at the same time over this way.

I'm sorry Sean but I cant seem to link at the moment.

They made a tv movie about that. It's insane, it's a satrical comedy like Serial Mom.

Also crazy title: The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom

2 made it that I nominated for visual effects but I hadn't seen Blade Runner yet and still need to see Shape of Water.

2 I nominated are up for score and I need to see 2.

I nominated 3 of the 5 for breakout and I've seen all of them.

Nominated 2 of the 5 for cinematography; missed on Beguiled, Ghost Story, and Call Me By Your Name.

Cast I got 1 and need to see 3. Missed on Detroit, Florida Project, Brigsby, and Call Me By Your Name.

Trailer got 3 of 5, missed on Logan and 3 Billboards.

Didn't get any memorable scenes. Mine were the long detainment in Detroit, First abduction try in Logan, Wind River final shootout, It sewer scene, and chopper ride to Skull Island.

Got 1 for underrated. Missed on Bad Day for the Cut, Hounds of Love, Shot Caller, and American Assassin.

Got 1 for overrated. Missed on Mother!, Get Out, Split, and John Wick 2.

I won't be voting for most disappointing because I've only seen Kingsman and I liked it. I voted for Kong, Mother!, Last Flag Flying, Leatherface, and Split.

None of my noms made it for most surprising; Wind River, Shot Caller, It Comes at Night, Florida Project, and Alien.

Only seen Raw for foreign language and none for animated or documentary. I won't vote in those categories.

Screenplay I got 2.

Supporting actress I got 2, the only 2 I've seen so far.

Supporting actor I got 1 and need to see 2.

Best actress I got 1 and need to see 4.

Best actor I got 1.

Director I got 1.

I haven't seen any of the worst picture noms so I won't vote. I had Split, Mother!, Gerald's Game, Leatherface, and Kong.

Best picture I got none. I nominated Detroit, It Comes at Night, Stronger, Wind River, and Shot Caller. What can I say those are my favorites so far.

Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
The opening sequence of Baby Driver is just a rip-off of the Mint Royale Blue Song video. (Also directed by Edgar Wright, so a legal rip-off, but still.)

No problem, I was just curious and do not make a point of googling any phrase with child porn in it.

Oh derp - I didnt read the sentence you quoted. I dont make a habit of reading my own posts. My reply was about the mum. The actor who was charged with child pornography (and you're right Sean, kiddy porn is a really stupid term and I need to top using it) was Michael Salling from Glee. Once again I was completely wrong. Idiot reporters were asking people if they were happy not to speak to him at the red carpet lineup because he died a few weeks before his sentencing and just 2 days before the oscars. What an inappropriate thing to be asking at that event. Just shaking my head.

Welcome to the human race...

That doesn't surprise me, though - just because they're more accessible than the actual films doesn't necessarily make it much easier for people to muster that much enthusiasm for them (especially when, as was the case with The Last Jedi, the trailer gets played at screenings for months on end so you get numb to it). I even felt that way about at least one or two of the trailers I ultimately ended up nominating because they're so ephemeral by design (especially once you've seen the actual films).

Hell, the reason I nominated the trailer for The Book of Henry despite it being one of my nominees for Worst Film is because it really has to be seen to be believed (much like the film itself), which is more than I can say for the likes of I, Tonya or whatever.
