Basically there is part of the plot I do not understand, and was hoping someone could help me.
SPOILER
Why does Jack Crabb surrender to the white man and betray his own people just like that? He has a knife in the white man's face and has the upper hand, yet decides to let the knife down and show him that he is white by taking off his make up and surrenders to him. I did not understand why.
