I have to return some videotapes...
Anyone got a opening weekend prediction? I'm thinking it makes 56 mil. domestic with a 30% drop off the next weekend.

Yeah I loved this trailer and it looks like it has the Star Wars tone, but a little edgier and I think that's a good thing because Force Awakens didn't have it and look how that turned out. I want Star Wars to treat us like were not five year old children and give me a little bit of grit, that's what this trailer delivered for me.
Since when have the Star Wars movies ever been considerably gritty, never, aside from a few severed limbs. And Force Awakens was plenty gritty, we saw a man run through on a saber and another guy got his spine cut out.

For the first time ever I actually feel like strong female leads are becoming a cliche. Rogue One doesn't look like it's going to be as bad as I thought it would be though. If it's at least on par with The Force Awakens then I'll probably enjoy it overall.
If it's on par with Force Awakens, it's on par with the originals as well, not better, but on par.

I never said that old Star Wars films are gritty, I just think today people are more interested in something with a little more of a darker edge, Rouge One looks like it might deliver on this. Force Awakens was practically a broadway play, there is no way you can pitch me that film was gritty.

Wow, no I strongly disagree with that. Force Awakens shattered all box office records, 529 million worldwide opening weekend, and was very well received. I see no reason why Rogues opening weekend worldwide wouldnt be around 300 million. Domestically Id guess around 135 million.

With the Box Office, I think that it will break 200 million easily, I don't think it will make as much as Force Awakens, but I think it will be one of the highest grossing of the year.

“Sugar is the most important thing in my life…”
Forrest Whitaker. He is the last person I would ever put in a SW mivie.

I don't know, it's kind of an unknown film for most people. They need to market it really well to get anywhere near a 135 million domestic opening. I can see it making 150 mil. worldwide opening weekend.

I have to agree. He's usually fine, but I don't know... there's just something about him that stands out to me. Maybe he's too well known? And other than The Butler, he's had a rash of pretty mediocre movies lately. Hopefully his role in Rogue One is smaller than the trailer suggests.

Im gonna need a Full Trailer cause this doesnt show that much. Im sure there saving Vader for a Theatrical Trailer with something like a bigger movie event .

I don't think it's an absolutely awful choice, he's a great actor, but then again, last time he was in a sci-fi film we got Battlefield Earth.

I'll repeat myself, a man gets run through by a lightsaber, we see a guy get his spine cut out, and we also see a guy get his mind tortured by the force. It's no Casino, but it has a bit of grit to it.

Now will they have an actress who can maybe pose as a younger Leia because we know at some point she got the plans by way of someone because I dont think they could have gotten these plans to Mon Moth. Its be cool if they met up with Akbar and he relayed information from the the Calimari Planet too where ever Leia was likely Corusant .

Save the Texas Prairie Chicken
To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with this. It looks alright, but there is nothing that is making me excited about seeing it. I hope the official trailer is a little bit better (which I am assuming it will be).

I'll still go and see it, though.

Of course I will.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
It does have that "prequel" problem though. We know nothing about the journey or characters and their fate but the result is known (death star plans obtained, death star blown up).

Come on, that's a bit harsh. I mean the original trillogy was a bit unrealistic, with some annoying comic relief and a stupid walking carpet that growled for dialogue, but they weren't that bad. At least they had half decent acting and for the most part a plausible plot.

Also, The Force Awakens was not gritty at all. In fact it was a little too glamorous. I mean did you see what they passed off as "torture?" Rogue One doesn't look gritty either. They are high production family friendly movies that people take their kids to. If you think that's gritty then you haven't seen anything yet.

Haven't you seen Terminator, Alien, Predator, The Exorcist, 8mm? Those movies are a little gritty.

I know nothing about this movie other than it's a prequel and I don't want to know any more. That trailer looked great. It's all I needed to see.

Vader has got too kill someone in this movie be it by the force or he kills another person by breaking his neck or even cooler. He rips someones arm off and so on. Cause we need too see that Vader is considered too be vile cause the comment Vader s Leash would say he is brutal and something of a attack dog.

Is Vader going to be in this for sure? I know there was that rumor, but has anything been said about it recently?

I figured that if it were definitely going to happen, they weren't going to make mention of it in a trailer (well, the teaser, at least) and probably not on IMDB until closer to the day it is released, if not until the film is released.
