True Blood

I just cant bring myself to watch Vampire Diaries - it just seems to teeny-bopperish. At this rate, True Blood is coming out once per year. You'd think based on its popularity they'd at least overlap it somewhat, but no.....

I know the feeling.
I've been relying on Vampire Diaries for my vamp fix lately.
It's not near as awesome as True Blood but it beats Twilight easily.

I read The Vampire Diaries because someone in another thread said the Twilight series had ripped them off... I didn't see it other than they had teens and vamps in both... but I actually think if I had to choose between the books, I'd have to go with Twilight... they're both kiddish but at least I kinda liked Bella... that Elena chick is annoying as hell...

As for True Blood... I'm still waiting to see Season Two... and trying to decide if I can afford to add HBO...

That's funny because in one episode of Vamp Diaries, one of the vampire brothers, Damon, was reading a Twilight book and made a couple comments about it to his slave-meal girlfriend. Pretty funny burn to Twilight.

Cait, why wait? Just watch it online.

I did watch a few on line... anyway, I just finished the last book and from the few episodes I've seen of Season 2 and 3, it looks like the show has veered away from the books a lot ??

Ms. Harris apparently gave them free license to do as they will with the characters. Its making it much more interesting for me, watching them re-imagine her storyline. Frankly, I think a lot of authors would do well to follow suit!

(I still have yet to read the last book. its on my to do list. I actually got bored with the books after the tv show! )

Read the last book and saw Season Two... and the first episode of Season 3... loved all of them but I'd have liked them to be a little more faithful to the books... I guess they're trying to stretch the series out though ...

Have you guys seen this?

Sink your fangs into a bottle of True Blood, the delicious blood orange carbonated drink inspired by Vampire Bill's favorite synthetic blood nourishment beverage from the hit HBO TV series True Blood.

Tart and slightly sweet, True Blood pours like a regular soda but appears stormy and mysterious when poured into a glass.

Meticulously crafted, the True Blood Drink is an exact replica of the bottle design (Branding TRU with fang wounds in place of an E) as seen on TV. The 14oz glass True Blood bottle is stained in a rich red, with raised True Blood English lettering and matching Japanese Kanji.

Did anyone see the fantasy with Bill and Sam coming? I want to know when Bill and Eric are going to be together...flippin' fantastic that would be!

I kinda expected them to do something along those lines because of the blood thing... remember what Bill told Sookie after she had a few drops of Eric's blood. Anyway, I don't really see a Bill and Eric thing happening even if they exchange blood because they're both already vamps...

I was watching a few of the older episodes the other day right after I saw the new Twilight trailer for Eclipse on tv... and it dawned on me that numerous people had a lot negative things to say about the make-up in Twilight... and Bill's make-up in a lot of the episodes of True Blood is horrible. I haven't noticed too many of the other vamps make-up looking as bad, but his is just icky ...

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
I don't know why Bill doesn't make Sookie a vampire. They would be so happy together, and Sookie wouldn't mind feeding on humans after a while, she's pretty feisty.

OMG, did I really just post this? I need a life!

I think there has been a real evolution when it comes to make up especially relating to the supernatural realm. Right now vampires are a hot topic so I think the artists that deal with make up are trying different things out. And I agree, Bill's make up does look funny.

I think they would do better to stop trying to make them so pale... and leave off the lipstick... it just looks silly on the majority of them...

I missed the first part of True Blood tonight... but luckily, I don't have to go in until later so I can catch the part I missed in a few minutes... they have definitely left the books though...

I'm sad...but the werewolf thing is getting cool...but they've been having way to many sub plots...and not enough Eric...but that scene with Sookie was nice...she looked great.

Really though, it's getting depressing.

Anybody have any idea about the vampire with Tara?

yeah, Franklin's a bad guy, according to the books, because we all know Tara's life is one depressing thing after another - she IS "that" character, so settle in for the long haul if youre waiting for her silver lining. (it'll never show )

in other news. the guy they have playing Franklin...wow. Ive seem him do villains but this is beyond. I didnt think he could get that scruffy.

they've clearly decided to go ahead and roll with pam being gay from the books. im just waiting for her to start dating the witch that's gonna come and live with sookie. and it is it me, or is there even more gratuitous sex this season than last? the show has gone soft porn. granted, it was that way last season a bit, but this season is its practically unescapable (sp?).

wild fact. Was reading the Red Eye the other day on the train, and discovered the fella playing Lafayette is not only straight, he's apparently a "christian." Juilliard trained, even I have to say there's a guy who can act his heart out!

EDIT: I've also decided (and this is quite childish of me) that I'm going to take to calling several guys I know "Stackhouse." Hopefully they'll get the point, but then, wouldnt that be beside the point? or do I mean "not the point? "

Finally. I'm moving on to The Gates

OK I am blurring my vision as I scroll this thread for now as I am still watching season 2. just watched I Will Rise Up and I feel this is episode comes damn close to (cable) television perfection.

The writing, acting, and production was all stellar, and the show deftly wove strands of horror, humor, romance, and intrigue into an emotional tapestry. I sat staring at the credits after it ended with tears streaming down my face, stunned by what I had just seen.

This show is normally a bit uneven for me, and I am not usuallyy over the moon about it in such a way. I am not the most effusive person on the planet, but this episode definitely made an impact on me, as it's pretty much a big 'ol tub of awesome.

That was a very moving episode... have you checked out the books?

oh wow, I just realized that was the Godric episode Seds was referencing. that was an awesome one - you gotta love Godric & eric. (think i might have even mentioned i, too, shed tears on that one in this thread at one point )

though, as of last ep in S3, they are really starting to make it clear that eric & pam have this relationship as well. y'know. parent-child.
