"Paramount and Kevin Hart have teamed up to develop a remake of Scrooged, the 1988 Christmas comedy which starred Bill Murray and was directed by Richard Donner.

The update is being eyed as a potential acting vehicle for Hart, who will produce via his Hartbeat Productions. A search for a writer to pen the script is underway."

I'm guessing it must be lifting the concept of a TV exec and the meta idea of him producing a version of A Christmas Carol during the film, just updating the latter story to the modern era wouldn't really be a Scrooged remake specifically.

I spose you could say its an alternative to remaking drop dead classics, I mean I think Scrooged definitely has its moments(mostly the darker stuff) but does become a little too straight forward at others IMHO. Still though I suspect any remake will end up a lot more of the latter than the former.
