Damn forgot about screenplay. I will try and be better organized next year. Killing it with the word play tonight fellas.
It's not too late, what would be your best screenplays of the year?

This might just do nobody any good.
I’m not really ready to make a post on supporting actors/actresses yet but I do see Yam shouted out Ford in Blade Runner and that featured a great bit of acting on his part...

... how do I put this?

“Her eyes were green.”

2022 Mofo Fantasy Football Champ
Best Actor

This admittedly isn't a very deep field for me this year from what I've seen. None the less, of what I've seen, these are my nominees:

Daniel Kaluuya- Get Out
Tom Holland- Spiderman Homecoming
Daniel Day-Lewis- Phantom Thread
Hugh Jackman- The Greatest Showman

And the winner being....

Gary Oldman- Darkest Hour

Again not seen much so I have quite a limited field to pick from.

Best actor

Daniel Kaluuya - Get Out

Best actress

Rooney Mara - A Ghost Story

Best Screenplay 2017

As I look through my top ten there is a notable lack of dialogue heavy films. That doesn't mean there weren't a lot of great screenplays or that my taste has changed necessarily. I just found it notable. As usual loved what Baumbach had to say in Meyerowitz Stories. I also loved the weird but hypnotic voice of Lanthimos in The Killing Of A Sacred Deer. The winner for me though is the subtle, distinct, humorous, and beautiful writing of PTA in Phantom Thread.

Best Lead Performances 2017

This is really only a two horse race for me. Loved Oldman in Darkest Hour but DDL in his last performance. In a PTA film on top of that. Forget it, there was nothing better this year.

Lead female was a harder choice for me. Krieps and Lawrence blew me away with their performances. Both against more seasoned leading men. The one that floored me more was Ronan in Lady Bird. What struck me most was the contrast between her in this and Brooklyn. The characters are so different but she plays them both so convincingly. Great young actress who I am very excited about.

Funny people are just now realizing the greatness of Ronan. I've loved her since Hanna.

In other words, I'm a Ronan hipster.

I am going to have to rewatch that. I remember likikng it quite a bit but it has left me. At least I'm not a hipster though. Just a senile old man.

Funny people are just now realizing the greatness of Ronan. I've loved her since Hanna.
I first noticed her in The Grand Budapest Hotel and liked her in that and since then I thought she'd go on to great things.

Funny people are just now realizing the greatness of Ronan. I've loved her since Hanna.
I was just thinking it's funny that the film is only seven years old but Bana was the draw of it for me. Now Ronan, Blanchet, and Wright would all be bigger draws. Of course the greatness of Munich was still fresh with me then, so I a really thought Bana was good.

She is awesome in Budapest too. Unrecognizable really. She has chops.

2022 Mofo Fantasy Football Champ
Best Actress

Definitely a crowded field, especially considering performances like Meryl Streep in The Post, Margot Robbie- in I, Tonya and Frances McDormand in 3 Billboards not making my nominee cut

Here's my nominees:

Sally Hawkins- The Shape of Water
Brooklyn Prince- The Florida Project
Vicky Krieps- Phantom Thread
Gal Gadot- Wonder Woman

And the winner being.....

Saorise Ronan- Lady Bird

This might just do nobody any good.
Someone needs to reunite Ronan and Blanchett. They compliment each other so brilliantly.
