Love And Pain And The Whole Damn Thing - 4/10
I shouldn't be advertising this, but I need to put something down here. Maybe it will get to me to start watching movies again.

It was recommended by someone with great movie taste, and the idea of older woman and younger man appealed to me. Too bad (for me).

The Mark Of Zorro (Fred Niblo, 1920)

Fun but not quite enough buckling of swashes to keep all the z's on the screen for me

Didn't connect with this at all. Now, in all fairness, I watched it in two segments so I'm sure I lost a bit of the flow (if there was any) but it was pretty dull. Liked the ending (the very last scene) but the previous 160 minutes I found a bit frustrating. From a technical standpoint it was outstanding. Loved the sets, cinematography, fx, etc.

Bukowski: born into this - 2003

Anyone who aspires to be a writer should watch adaptation by kaufman, and this. I can't imagine the humiliation and the abuses he have been true his childhood to reach the point of glorifying a lifestyle no one dares to. He successfully showed us his world and the world of the so many like him, the world without mickey mouse he so much despised. I think his the man unspoken to, watering the plant, like in his poem: love is a dog from hell.

WARNING: spoilers below
our educational system tells us that we can all be big-ass winners. it hasn't told us about the gutters or the suicides. or the terror of one person aching in one place alone, untouched, unspoken to, watering a plant.

The Ace Of Hearts (Wallace Worsley, 1921)

The tale's of interest even if there isn't really a great deal to it

White Sands (1992) thriller 9/10

I found it very difficult to get into and haven't seen the whole film. I liked the remake, which I saw first.

Safety Last (1923)

I liked this more than Harold Lloyd's The Freshman, but of course I expected to. This movie is a good reminder that the top 100 thrills list is just that, and not thrillers which is what I always think of. A lot of good gags here and a very easy watch.

The Lone Ranger (2013)

Contrived garbage.

I thought there was something I was missing. Its the only Tarkovsky I've seen so maybe just haven't got into his style.

The Longest Ride
(2015)
3.75/5
Oh I really needed this film tonight... I have been searching for something and this was it. I am a Nicholas Sparks fan, in a way that a certain book may draw me in. I didn't read this book ( I have only read a handful) but this movie.

and Scott Eastwood.. damn boy, you look like your daddy. Both handsome men for their time period.

I haven't read any of his books, but The Longest Ride is one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks movies.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum

Ugghhh. It was okay. Its honestly kinda ironic, but really sad, that the series that was such a huge breath of fresh air in such a bloated cgi nightmare landscape that is the modern action movie now ends up also becoming more bloated and cgi filled. I love the first two of these to death, but this one is a big misstep. Still much better than the alternative movie out there I guess, but so much more ridiculous scenes and way less practical effects/stunts. This isn't a sequel ramp up like from 1 to 2, this is a complete derailment of what the first two were apart from the "badass dude kills lots of people" constant it minimally required.
I now am not looking forward to this inevitable fourth film, and boy oh boy i hope it stops there at this point.

5.5/10

I thought this movie was so funny when I caught it on tv for the first time. Would love to revisit it, it's my favourite film starring the two of them.

The Navigator (Donald Crisp & Buster Keaton, 1924)

Doesn't always have a lot of wind in its sails but does encompass some nice moments
