Skyfall (upcoming James Bond film)

Bond films need to go back to being like Golden Eye and Tomorrow Never Dies, they are both great films.
I can agree with you on Goldeneye - it is easily the best original Bond story on screen - but the rest of the Brosnan films were rough to say the least. I, for one, am a big fan of the new direction and I hope they can string together some more winners. Quantum wasn't so strong as Casino Royale but I rate it second best amongst post-Goldeneye films.

Good to hear that the 23rd installment is back on track. The whole MGM buyout situation was beginning to make me nervous.

Shoot 'Em Up was far entertaining than both the Craig's Bond combined.
& Trust me, Clive Owen could pull off a Bond at 50... He's just that good.
you can't be serious casino royale was a great film way better than the 4 bond movie's beforehand.

Anything can be better than the Brosnan movies..
Even the Sellers & Lazenby movies were better than the Brosnan movies.

Casino Royale was a real good film, but with many flaws... It's more inspired from the success of the Bourne movies..
So yes, for the generation of the Bourne lovers, Daniel Craig's Bond is the ultimate Bond.. But, I refuse to believe so.

Apart from the fact I thought that the Bond films were now to be a thing of the past due to the high finance, I've felt that the last couple of Bond films have driffted from what a classical Bond film is. I know tha makers have to try and capture an audiance but the they were already there. This is one of those clocks that wasn't broken but the film makers decided to repair it anyway.

Perhap I'm a bit long in the tooth, but to me a Bond film is - Explosions, girls, chases, gadgets and finishes with Bond riding/floating/fying etc into the sunset with his latest conquest. The las film lacked most ofthat I'm affraid.

A little bit of drama isn't a bad thing. It is nice that they are trying to maintain some kind of continuity.

The best one was From Russia With Love, it was a great sequel to Dr. No, but they had to ruin it with You Only Live Twice with the extraordinary campiness.
But lets not forget You OnlY Live Twice gave us Blofeld, else we would never have had Dr. Evil (Austin Powers).

I used to enjoy the Matt Helm (Dean Martin) movies as well, I heard they were remaking it with a more serious tone like the Bourne movies (Yes, they mentioned the Bourne movies).. I am sure that's exactly the kind of audience the new Bond movies have tried to aim.

So we can no longer expect any originality in the new Bond movies, just unnecessary rooftop running & jumping...

QoS was easily forgetable, in fact I can't even recall the villain in the film. That's never supposed to happen for a Bond villain.

Judi Dench has been playing the role of M forever literally and in fact I believe she does a good job! I hope to see more of those free-running chase scenes as seen from the start of casino royale this time around.

Ofcourse you do.. Everyone does..
That's why they have added it. Like I said James Bond has sold himself to be a Jason Bourne.

I don't think they need more chase scenes like that. That scene was great, but if they just play the same card in future films it'll ruin it. One thing Bond has always done well is re-invent its elements, especially chases

You mean in Casino Royale, or was there one in both? If you mean the one in Casino Royale, I think it was pretty flippin' awesome.
I was talking about QoS, the one in CR was awesome, it was a fresh idea for a Bond film.
QoS just made it lame & Unnecessary..

It's like repeating the Moonraker scene where Bond leaps out of a plane without a parachute.

QoS was so bad.

I hope they never replace Daniel Craig as Bond. As much of a Connery fan I was I have to say so far Craig is the best Bond to date. Casino Royal was hands down my favorite of the Bond films. Craig is the man.

MGM Aims To Have ‘Bond 23’ In Theaters In November 2012
New Bond Film To Arrive Every Two Years After That

We’ll try and keep the boring economics of this to minimum because it makes us fall asleep too, but MGM recently officially filed for bankruptcy and began restructuring proceedings that will put the legendary studio back into the business of making movies. As you already know, the first film out of the gate is the long-delayed and highly anticipated “The Hobbit” that will begin filming in February, but it looks like the other massive MGM franchise, the ‘James Bond’ series, will be headed back to the big screen sooner than we thought.

Bloomberg reports (via MovieWeb) that MGM’s post-bankruptcy plans are very big indeed. They aim to have the next installment of the ‘James Bond’ series in theaters in November 2012, arriving one month before “The Hobbit” and marking one hell of a comeback, one-two punch for the studio. However, it’s not a slam dunk just yet. The studio will be seeking a partner to fund the film (MGM will retain the rights) and if all goes according to plan, future installments will arrive every two years and will be fully bankrolled and wholly owned by the studio. It’s certainly an ambitious plan but not without precedence; Bond films did arrive every two years up until the ‘90s when longer gaps appeared with the longest one marked by the six-year distance between 1989’s “License To Kill” and 1995’s “Goldeneye.”

Of course, at this point, it’s too early to tell if Sam Mendes, long attached to the picture, will sit in the director’s chair or if the increasingly busy Daniel Craig will once again return (he certainly would love to come back). But it should be noted that back in September reports surfaced that “Bond 23” would go in front of cameras in the fall of 2011 and certainly, that timeline could definitely work.

There’s no word yet from EON Productions, the production company that has been behind every Bond film to date and suspended the project earlier this year due to MGM’s financial woes. But with MGM now rising back up, we wouldn’t be surprised if those conversations are beginning to happen again.

It would definitely make sense that MGM wants to come out of the gate quick and strong and its certainly a no-brainer to have their two biggest moneymakers lead the charge.
