I'm sorry, but I simply must disagree. Watkins and co. wheel out every ghost story cliche going - including suspicious locals, creaking noises, locked doors that mysteriously open when your back's turned, a sickly looking child, and the pièce de résistance...ghostly figures appearing in windows. *Yawns loudly having seen it all before at least a hundred times*
I admit some are somewhat cliche(not extremely) but they were molded well and out came a good old fashioned ghost story. A few you mentioned were important to the story line(Sickly child, suspicious locals, so don't see what's wrong).

Tell me, what would you have done differently in a ghost story then? A cliché free new ghost story.

Since I have started this thread, have seen many films.
Must say British Horror is definitely my thing now.
If only someone do a proper adaptation of Hellblazer.

Thanks for the advice on Woman in Black, I think I'll give it a try. Thinking of getting the older tv movie as well.

UsedFuture, I haven't seen those Fu Manchu films. Seems interesting though.

I wouldn't have chosen to adapt Susan Hill's The Woman In Black...again.
