Top Ten complicated plots?

Inception and Memento are complicated at first but once you realize how it's all made and what's the technique it looks much easier.

Also I do agree with you with Memento, that movie is really confusing. The matrix isn't compensated at all to me.
I'm the opposite, I didn't find Memento complicated in the slightest but then when I saw it for the first time it was in film class and we had the lecturer discussing it with us after. Same for The Matrix too.

Smells mystical, doesn't it?

I think one of the huge flaws of Inception was them spending an hour explaining "Inception" which completely killed the rewatchability for me.

I'd argue that the themes explored in Memento is more complicated than the structure itself, which is very linear, just reversed. Well, at least the colour sequences. The black and white scenes run forwards. As long as you pay attention, it shouldn't be that complicated on the second viewing.

I thought that Inception's plot was complicated on first viewing. Still do actually.

Syriana was very complicated, although I got the gist of what was going on. I'm going to have to watch that again.

Agree with Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Need to watch again.

Even without that, it's still pretty simple on first viewing. The dream levels are very simple to keep track of and instead of food for thought we had gunfights.

Mhm. I think it could be easily over-complicated by a viewer too, because it was over-complicated by the movie itself.

also the movie BRazil

that's what she said...
Mr. Nobody

I absolutely love this movie. The first time I watched it I fell in love with it and all the ideas in the movie however I felt myself a tad bit confused about what the heck I just saw... I dont know how to explain it, it was so perfect yet so complex. I've watched it so many times now but it never fails to capture my emotions and no joke, after watching it, it keeps me up at night thinking about it...

Just one of the greatest complex yet thrilling and full of emotion movies out there. If you havn't seen it, it's a must!!!!!!!

You guys have just mentioned the two most complicated movies I've ever watched that just left me confused and I don't often get confused. Revolver and 12 Monkeys just had me spinning!

Revolver and Twelve Monkeys aren't very complicated. One's about a guy becoming enlightened, disguised as a crime drama. The other's a guy in a time loop who sees his own death, so it's simply about predestination. Their plots are just drawn out and obfuscated by stylishness and structure.

I like them both a lot, but movies with genuinely twisty-turny plots are different, to me at least, from movies that are ultimately little more than a premise, a clever structure, and a lot of entertaining filler.

Ocean' 11 is kinda difficult to understand, not the overall plot but how they managed to steal the casino.

Matrix,Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolution were the greatest movies ever. The second and third movies were great. It was quite complicated and people never understood it completely.I enjoyed it more than any other movie ever.

Ocean's Twelve
2001: A space Odyssey
Taxi Driver (This one it's not the plot that is complicated to understand... it's the character. Each time I watch this movie I see Travis Bickle in a different way)

Vanilla Sky. I'm still confused
