I watched miracle mile and while it was an amateur effort , the idea of the movie and how it unfolds is very interesting. Are there any movies like that ? I am looking for movies that are small in scale and thrillers , not action movies where hero is trying to stop a nuclear war with russia by fighting a bunch of bad guys.
Interesting thrillers about nuclear weapons/war

Failsafe (1964) is a tense & interesting movie from the Cold War period - with a horrific scenario. (But it's almost all played out from a behind the scenes perspective. There's really no "action" in it.)
And I often say Dr. Strangelove (1964) is the comedy version of Failsafe!

The Day After (1983) is a rather frank look at the end results of nuclear war radiation fall out on a small mid western town. It's surprisingly honest in it's grimness.
