I feel like in a lot of ways, it's not a good movie, mostly because of poor acting and editing. The script also seems unfocused in sections, with an ending that just feels kind of random perhaps.
However, I also find the movie very refreshing, cause it gets to show what a good, successful direct was like before he got good. Most directors start out as good with their first movies being well recieved, sometimes even better than their later movies.
But here, we have a movie from a director that's not near as good as his later efforts, which is unusual for a successful director, cause usually you don't start out good, you aren't taken seriously after.
