Show the aliens

Tools

I remember a few years back some scientist broadcast a Beatles song into outer space, i can only imagine they were hoping it would be picked up by some alien lifeform (i think its a horrible idea).

Know hypothetical situation:

We make contact with aliens from another planet, and they are friendly and can understand us. Us knowing nothing about their culture. What would be the best movie to represent humanity???

My choice would be "apollo 13" not only does it star some of our great actors, it shows our history of space exploration, has drama and very tense moments, and its not violent so it would not shock our soon to be alien overlords

opinions and your choices?

BONUS: worst movie to show the aliens: E.T.

Tod Browning's Freaks. Or Dickie Attenborough's Gandhi. It's a toss up for me.

I remember a sci-fi story I read decades ago about aliens who came to earth and somewhere along the way based all of their knowledge about mankind on a film depicting the lifetime of a person from birth through various stages of development to old age and death. Only the aliens ran the film backwards so they thought old people were stored underground, dug up, became younger and younger and finally as infants were inserted into female hosts for safe-keeping. You can imagine how that screwed up intergalactic relationships. I doubt if most movies would do much better.

Sounds like something Kilgore Trout would write.

Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Life is Beautiful and Wall-E would be two of the best.

Worst. Any slasher film.
