Before answering such questions, always check first if there was a Leone released that year. Settles it.

For a few dollars more.

But that's almost cheating. Apart from it, a few classics stand up.

The Hill, that quasi-foucauldian thesis on the asymetry of institutional power, legitimacy and narrative control.

The IPCRESS file, "the thinking man's james bond" as they publicized it, introducing Michael Caine's deliciously sarcastic Harry Palmer, with a terrific John Barry score to boot.

Le Corniaud, one of the most popular epic french comedies, featuring the already established legend Bourvil and the then rising star Louis de Funès.
